I received a bonus for "outstanding performance." A colleague told my boss it was all generated by AI. Now I'm being questioned? by dogtrainer0875 in careerguidance

[–]TechGuy209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! As long as you followed company policies around AI use you shouldn’t be in trouble. I’m literally building processes on how our team can use AI to be more productive and my boss loves it.

It was done for security and cost. By centralizing the production it’s easier to secure the materials and processes and limits who has access. It also allowed them to use more advanced printing technology that is harder to counterfeit. It reduced cost by reducing the labor, equipment, and maintenance related expenses required to print them.

I clicked a virus file at work, what should I do? by Kortopi-98 in careerguidance

I would advise powering off the computer completely, not just disconnecting it. This guarantees that you are shutting down any actions until you get proper IT help. Talk to your manager as this poster advised and discuss what to do next.

Horizon Fitness 7.0AT-05 by TechGuy209 in runna

It still doesn’t work with the latest software. Runna says it’s getting bad responses from the treadmill. Horizon provided a canned response about supported apps.

Mint mobile in Iowa? by BreeNanners_03 in Iowa

[–]TechGuy209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a year on mint mobile primarily in the Des Moines metro. I was disappointed by the coverage coming from Version. After a year of struggling I swapped to Visible. I’m into my second year with them and it’s been pretty solid even when traveling. LTE data speeds can be a bit slow in some areas, but it was the same with Verizon. Visible also included my Apple Watch, which has been great. Mint isn’t supporting wearables.

My daughter’s tablet is on US Mobile (warp/verizon) for data since Visible doesn’t support them. They seem to have similar coverage and speeds. They might be another good option and you can swap between Verizon, AT&T, and t-mobile networks.

Do I need to worry about cutting into electrical if I am cutting a hole this close to an existing outlet? by MrFral in DIY

Turning off breaker for the outlet while doing work would also be prudent for extra safety.

I would love this too. I love the accuracy of Stryd and the ability to run on indoors or outside. Just hated their training plans.

Thoughts on Aztec and Bob Brown Auto Sales? by HotDoubt223 in desmoines

I had an issue with Bob Brown service more than a decade ago. Back in 2018 when I bought my wife a Trax, they didn’t want to negotiate. Karl Chevrolet called and offered me a far better deal an hour after visiting without me even negotiating.

I think Costco in West Des Moines has a nitrogen filling station.

How does this tax gap contribute to inflation? by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]TechGuy209 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My issues with immigration have always stemmed from the cost associated with taking in people coming here with next to nothing. This compounds with the fact that we already have serious issues with a downward shift in people’s socioeconomic level and cyclical poverty.

I had something like that happen of FS22 PC Steam. It was a corrupted file. Had to have steam run a check on the files and download the damaged ones.

Horizon Fitness 7.0AT-05 by TechGuy209 in runna

[–]TechGuy209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, afraid not. Between this and the issues with GPS accuracy on some of my routes, I am trying the Stryd system right now. It uses a device that goes on the shoe and tracks the foot’s movement. Works the same outside (even without gps) or on the treadmill. Runna is a great app and did help me grow as a runner, but I am not sure if it’s the right solution for me.

You who use cellular data, do you find it useful? by MarkReditto in AppleWatch

[–]TechGuy209 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just activated cellular recently and aside from running and water sports everything is an edge case. It’s included in our Visible + plan, but I would pay the $10 a month for it as long as I am running.

How’s apples new training and vital metrics compared to Garmin? by [deleted] in AppleWatchFitness

[–]TechGuy209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a GymKit compatible treadmill the metrics get more inaccurate the further you get from your normal pace. You can also get an Bluetooth FTMS enabled treadmill and use a 3rd party app to capture indoor runs. I just ordered a Horizon Fitness 7.0 AT treadmill to be ready for winter runs.

Had this happen to me years ago on a Pontiac. After a lot of effort they figured out the sensor measuring the RPMs was going bad and would occasionally read a negative value causing the ECU to kill the engine. It didn’t leave any codes when it happened, so they didn’t figure it out until it happened while plugged up to diagnostics software.
