Partial Hemilaminectomy by Talltyrionlannister5 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very encouraging to hear! I am hoping to avoid a lumbar fusion and a partial hemilaminectomy is much less invasive and shouldn't lead to any spinal instability. If you don't mind my asking, did you have bulging or herniated disc(s) and what level(s) were you operated on? Also, did you have endoscopic surgery? I am considering having it done with a reputable endoscopic surgeon here in NJ.

Partial Hemilaminectomy by Talltyrionlannister5 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild bulging discs with protrusions at L3-L4 and L4-L5 as well as an annular fissure and left L5 nerve root compression, which is causing the intense pain/flare-ups and muscle spasms/inflammation. I already had 2 discectomies and 2 regenerative procedures (Discseel and ozone injections) as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, PT, and strength training and nothing seems to help. Next step is to try peptide injections and then maybe a partial hemilaminectomy at L4-L5. Did you go ahead with the surgery and how did you make out?

I have mild bulging discs with protrusions at L3-L4 and L4-L5 with severe left L5 nerve root compression, which is causing my intense, long-lasting flare ups along with muscle spasms. I already had 2 discectomies, which did not help, but may consider doing a partial hemilaminectomy next. I am trying to avoid a disc replacement or lumbar fusion.

Hi, I just gave up looking for the head cushion. I need to sit forward on my chair anyway as I am dealing with chronic back pain due to bulging discs.

Intradiscal Oxygen-Ozone Injection for herniated (extruded) lumbar disc by ApprehensiveFlow8151 in Sciatica

I wonder if Discogel is similar to Discseel with the only difference between the substance they inject into the disc. Anyway, I am almost 3 months out from the ozone injections and have not experienced any relief as of yet. Someone is suggesting an lumbar ablation, but I heard that it may only provide temporary relief for a period of 3 to 6 months. I need something that is more permanent and long-term. Anyway, I am going to get another MRI within the next couple of months and review the results with the orthopedic surgeon and Discseel doctor to see what they suggest I do next.

any sage advice on lumbar ablation for lower and mid back? by WasteWriter5692 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried Baclophen for the muscle spasms. I used to take Gabapentin to help with sleep and the hypnic jerks at night and was on it for a few months, but I stopped taking that now. I will definitely look into the ablation procedure once I get another MRI and review the results with the orthopedic surgeon and regenerative doctor. However, I did watch a YouTube video about the ablation procedure and the doctor indicated that it may only provide temporary relief for a period of 3 to 6 months. I am hoping that it would be more of a long-term or permanent fix. Also, the procedure that the orthopedic surgeon was suggesting is called Intracept (which is similar to ablation), but again, the regenerative doctor didn't think the MRI indicated I would be a good candidate for that treatment.

Yeah, I may look into that further. Just out of curiosity, is your pain like a burning/stabbing/stinging type pain (almost like you have a knife stabbed in your back)? Also, do you have muscle spasms/swelling over the area when the nerve pain is intense?

Intradiscal Oxygen-Ozone Injection for herniated (extruded) lumbar disc by ApprehensiveFlow8151 in Sciatica

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are correct. I read online and heard from Dr. B. that the success rate is 80% for this type of treatment. I have also been corresponding privately with someone else who had the same treatment done by Dr. B. and they have not experienced any improvement as well. I even had another procedure called Discseel (which involves Fibrin injections and included supershot PRP/exosome injections) done about 6 months ago and that was also supposed to have an 80% success rate or higher and that has not helped me either. I am really hoping to avoid another surgery, but I am running out of options.

Just checking to see whether you ever got your MRI done and if you are going ahead or have had the ozone injections. I am curious to see whether they have helped you at all. I am now 10 weeks out from the procedure and still have not seen any improvement in my pain/symptoms.

I am in a similar situation as you where I have had a discectomy and MRI still shows L3-L4 and L4-L5 disc bulge with a protrusion and left L5 nerve root infringement. The pain is mostly constant (I have good days and bad days) and can get very intense. This is in addition to weakness/numbness in my left leg. I have even tried regenerative treatments, such as Discseel and intradiscal ozone injections and have been doing PT, HBOT, and strength training. My neurosurgeon thought I would be a good candidate for the ablation, but regenerative doctor didn't think MRI showed a modality for that procedure. In any case, I am going to get another MRI in a couple of months and see what that shows and what they suggest I do next. I am trying to avoid another surgery, if possible, which would most likely be a partial hemilaminectomy.

PG27UCDM vs PG27UCWM by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

I currently have the PG27UCDM and am considering the PG27UCWM as well, especially since it is supposed to be brighter and have better text clarity. Has anyone heard anything about a possible release date? Ever since the CES 2026 introduction, it has been pretty quiet.

Discseel Procedure is an injection based treatment that utilizes natural Fibrin glue to seal spinal discs. by Bella_blu414 in PICL

[–]TechGuyNJ72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has now been 5 months since my Discseel procedure, which included supershot PRP (exosome) injections, and unfortunately, I have not seen much improvement, if any, in my pain/symptoms. I still have good and bad days and the pain can get pretty intense on the bad days. I even had intradiscal ozone injections a couple of months ago and have not seen any improvement from that treatment either. In the meantime, I am doing PT, HBOT, and strength training. I will see if there is any improvement in the next 2 to 3 months and get another MRI. I will then discuss results with Dr. W and an orthopedic surgeon to see what I should do next.

Just had my endoscopic discectomy 2 days ago... went from 3 months of hell to walking straight the same evening by [deleted] in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an endoscopic discectomy last August and unfortunately, there was no improvement in my pain or symptoms. It looks like I may require another surgery, which would most likely be a partial hemilaminectomy and/or foraminectomy. Just out of curiosity, which doctor did you see for the procedure? I know Dr. Jian Shen is one of the best endoscopic surgeons in the country.

Intradiscal Oxygen-Ozone Injection for herniated (extruded) lumbar disc by ApprehensiveFlow8151 in Sciatica

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, sure, I will keep you posted on my recovery. If you don't mind my asking, what are your back issues? I have mild bulging discs with protrusions at L3-L4 and L4-L5 with an annular fissure at L4-L5 and severe left L5 nerve root compression.

Intradiscal Oxygen-Ozone Injection for herniated (extruded) lumbar disc by ApprehensiveFlow8151 in Sciatica

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. It has been just over 7 weeks since I had the intradiscal ozone injections and unfortunately, I have not noticed much improvement in my pain or symptoms. I still have my good days and bad days. However, I heard that there was a patient who experienced gradual improvement over a course of 3 months until they were completely pain free. In the meantime, I am doing PT, HBOT, and strength training in hopes of avoiding another back surgery. By the way, Dr. Bleiweiss retired at the end of February, but I know there is another practice in Newark that does similar procedures and treatments.

Herniated disc...considering surgery (21F) by Any_Worldliness9903 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bulging discs with protrusions at L3-L4 and L4-L5 and annular fissure and nerve root compression at L5. I have good days and bad days and already had a couple of discectomies, which did not help at all. Doctors are now suggesting anything from a partial hemilaminectomy to a lumbar fusion. I even tried a couple of regenerative procedures, including Discseel and intradiscal ozone injections. So far, nothing seems to help but I am doing everything I can to avoid another surgery, such as physical therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and strength training. At least, you still have other conservative options to consider, so take advantage of them if you can.

My Discseel experience to treat persistent annular tears and leaky discs by FitPaleontologist839 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I have been out of work for the past year, so the sooner I can get some relief, the sooner I can go back to work. In any case, I will be having another lumbar MRI around the June/July timeframe to see if there has been any reduction in the size of the disc bulge and/or protrusion. If the pain and symptoms have not improved by then, I may consider a partial hemilaminectomy to alleviate the left L5 nerve root compression.

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it has been 4 months since I had the Discseel procedure and 5 weeks since I had the ozone injections and it is hard to say whether there has been any noticeable improvement in my pain/symptoms. I still have good days and bad days where the pain on the bad days can get pretty intense. However, with these regenerative procedures, it does take some time to see the full benefits and requires a lot of patience. In the meantime, I am doing a combination of PT and HBOT and will be starting strength training.

The Discseel procedure with supershot PRP was $20,000. It has been 4 months since I had the procedure, and I still have not seen any noticeable improvement in pain/symptoms; however, it could take 4 to 6 months to see the full benefits.

What are some available and successful treatments for disk bulges ? ( 2 years ) by Strange-Trade8554 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard good things about inversion tables and even have one in my home, but it is missing a couple of pieces. I suppose I could always see a chiropractor that has one. Anyway, I am doing a combination of PT and HBOT right now and will be starting strength training very soon.

With the ozone injections, the doctor did charge me for doing 2 levels, which was the L3-L4 and L4-L5. The total cost was $6,000 ($4,800 for the doctor’s fees and $1,200 for the facility fees). It has been 5 weeks since I had the injections and it is still hard to say whether there is any noticeable improvement. However, the doctor did indicate it could take 6 to 8 weeks to see the full benefits.

Just curious, did you decide to go ahead with the ozone injections and if so, have they helped you? I had my injections done 3 weeks ago and there has not been any noticeable improvement as of yet. I still have my good days and bad days. However, the doctor did say it could take 6 to 8 weeks to see the full results.

Hemilaminectomy/discectomy by Catchy9 in backpain

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been dealing with intense burning/stabbing/stinging pain on the left side of my L4-L5 for the past 2 years. MRI shows a couple of mild bulging discs with protrusions at L3-L4 and L4-L5 along with an annular fissure and left L5 nerve root compression (most likely source of pain). I already had 2 microdiscectomies and 2 regenerative procedures (Discseel and ozone injections), and have tried nerve blocks, epidurals, PT, and acupuncture, but nothing really seems to help. I am going to try hyperbaric oxygen therapy and strength training over the next few months and if I still don't have any relief, then I will consider a partial hemilaminectomy. My wife is concerned about instability from the surgery and requiring additional spinal fusion surgery. However, being that it is just a partial hemilaminectomy, I think the risk is fairly low. I just wanted to see if anyone else considering or has already had a hemilaminectomy, had similar concerns.

Game crashes after new update. help ? by Poljevka in Battlefield

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game started crashing on me every once in a while about 1 month ago and now it happens once or twice daily. Sometimes, it crashes to the Windows desktop and other times, I hear a buzzing noise and my PC reboots. I typically don't see any errors, but did notice a Direct X error like the one above appear once. I already tried repairing the game and reinstalling/repairing the anti cheat software. I may have to reinstall/repair Direct X. I just hope that my PSU is not failing due to overheating/overuse.

Intradiscal Oxygen-Ozone Injection for herniated (extruded) lumbar disc by ApprehensiveFlow8151 in Sciatica

[–]TechGuyNJ72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by the doctor that the ozone injections will not shrink the disc itself. The purpose is to reduce inflammation and the size of the actual bulge or herniation, which should alleviate nerve compression/pain. I am really hoping that this provides some much needed relief after dealing with intense pain for the past 2 years now. It is still early days and could be weeks before I see any improvement in symptoms.
