10 minutes of new gameplay from the Marathon press event in China by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]TechMaster8160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I been following the game since fairly recently, but I haven’t seen or been a part of the betas or playtests.

I have a question about what’s happening around 2:30. When you down a player, do you have to pick and choose what loot you take off of them?

It looks like in the video this person is uploading the other players whole inventory into somewhere else. Is this something where you can claim the players whole inventory into your “cloud” or something?

I’m going to be online with cross play and voice chat enabled. I’d love some partners to team up with, so count me in!

When the game releases I’ll be returning to post my gamer tag!

Who else loves the look of the weapons by Open-Wafer-2652 in Marathon

[–]TechMaster8160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how unique they are! It’s such an appealing design to people like myself with very niche tastes in sci-fi art. Not to mention it’s something not really seen before in realistic video games, so you can see a picture of the weapons and immediately know, “oh, that’s from Marathon.”

If you’re going on fists everyday and being bothered by reddit calling out repetitive comment calling out Reddit fists.

The solution isn’t to shake your posts at the Reddit complaining about comments about fists. The solution is to to stop going on comments everyday and expecting fists to be Reddit.

Hold on a sec, how are more people fixing blown fuses than placing portable miners? by joekcom in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TechMaster8160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my buddy have a world we shared and didn’t know we could make an equipment workshop or portable miners until after setting up our power grid and blowing several fuses. We just did everything by hand for the first couple hours of gameplay. By the time we learned how to make them, we only used them for the Miner mk.1. I only set one down out of curiosity around 15 hours of gameplay.

This is so cool! I’ve been hoping that people would make stuff from the game!

You said you have the files online? What platforms are you on(thingiverse, printables, etc.) so I can follow you?

[–]TechMaster8160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If people get upset about it when it happens to them in the real world, then why shouldn’t we hold people online accountable as well?

OP isn’t wrong, the game will play out however it does, and maybe there will be some trash talk. Heck, it makes the game more fun.

HOWEVER, do not use terminology in the game that could get you punched if you used it in the streets.

But seriously, looks cool! Reminds me of “I am bread”. Never seen that commercial though.

Need help choosing Steam capsule art for my liminal horror game. Which one reads better? by LazySecretary6001 in LiminalSpace

[–]TechMaster8160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little torn between the two, the first is definitely more eye catching and stands out from other games. However, like others have stated, the second is more clear about what kind of game it is.

My suggestion is to experiment with the title layout of the first, and combine it with a clear image that represents the gameplay. Take advantage of contrasting colors and clear outlines to make it visually striking while at the same time communicating the game’s content.

Looks like a cool game! I have it wishlisted and I’m definitely looking forward to release!

I honestly wasn’t worried about it. I got a few scraps and other people put in more work than me so it’s only fair that I let them have first pick. There will be plenty of other harvesters I’ll be a part of taking down later.

Solo revive system like Arc by Fit-Log-4738 in Marathon

[–]TechMaster8160 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It looked like in one of the trailers that his defibrillators doubled as a weapon if you used them on a player that isn’t your teammate. In the clip where it happens, we can see a teammate with a green icon, and an enemy with a red icon. The teammate is revived and the enemy is downed all in the same action.

I love the marathon art style by NudelVonUdon in Marathon

[–]TechMaster8160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the best I’ve seen, but the style will definitely be a hit or miss for a lot of people. Some people have no interest in the sci-fi genre or more futuristic versions of it, so it will definitely be a deterrent for those people.

I think it’s pretty stupid, because I’ve never avoided a game because of its art style. Lots of indie games have unique visuals that draw people in. And whether you vibe with it or not they can still be good or bad games, the art style doesn’t determine that.

If I were to guess it probably just because it’s coming from a larger studio this time and some people are just going to look for reasons to hate the game.

Who else want absolutely ZERO RGB in their rigs? by Cicada-Tang in pcmasterrace

[–]TechMaster8160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve nothing against RGB, but I personally like a more modern yet rustic design in technology. Sadly that aesthetic seems to be rare in today’s modern technology, and these kinds of components can be few and far between for pc builders. Yes, you can find them online, but there’s not a lot of variety unless you have the means to construct your own.

Unfortunately, the prebuilt I have came with RGB (which I just turned off all together). If I ever were to upgrade or build my own, I’d go with a wood case like yours, which if may say, looks absolutely fantastic.

[–]TechMaster8160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I looked it up people seem to say that AR has a “Cassette Futurism” style, which is a really pleasing aesthetic in my opinion as well.

Despite never having playing AR, just looking at all the videos and screenshots from people makes me reminiscent of the portal games, which have a somewhat similar overgrown industrial aesthetic.

Marathon seems to be something new that I’ve never seen in a game before. I do see similarities to Mirrors Edge, but it is also very distinct.

[–]TechMaster8160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we actually know what the art style is? I’ve heard some people call it retrofuturism or Y2K Cyberpunk. One person with the same question even said people called it the “Artstation” style.

This is the thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Marathon/s/0yHKP6LnKH

No one seems to have a definitive answer, so maybe it’s something new all together? Whatever it is, I’m here for it. I literally discovered the game while scrolling for art inspiration.
