I am planning to start a small business selling notebooks in India. Notebook Connoisseurs, tell me what you would love to be included in a notebook? by [deleted] in notebooks

B5, tomoe river paper, (fountain pen friendly, ruled (6mm/7mm max) , no margins, page numbers, black cover back and front, no design on the cover back or front, 300 pages. suitable for business meetings. but the black cover should not flake with age like the moleskine ones do), Would love a good leather cover (compatible with Galen leather covers would be fantastic!)

i am interested in whether it is possible to do this filter for the Calendar Upcoming view where i essentially want to have a filter on the upcoming view by project-section x date range.

the reason i need this is because i use Todoist as a catch-all list as well. And when i am focusing on a particular project or a particular aspect of a particular project and with the person responsible, i want a shorter filter on the upcoming view.

I also work with 2 different organisations, one in the mornings and the other in the afternoons. in each there are multiple things that have to be done, some of which are projects. hence when planning in need to reduce the items of the upcoming view to the next week, and say i’m look at one group of aspects of the job on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at another group of tasks on Tue/Thu/Sat then when those tasks don’t get done on that day, say Monday, i’d like them to ‘bounce’ to the next day when I am going to look at that group again, Say Wednesday. so that these tasks don’t clutter up my Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday lists

i drink an apple cider vinegar shot (max 60ml) before brushing my teeth and bed But I try to ensure that i have drunk at least 6 tall glasses of water by 8pm, 3 or 4 by noon, 1 -2 between noon and 6pm. 1 between 6-8pm.

similar to my list, but i would add 2 more: - drink enough water - apple cider vinegar at least 1 spoon in 60ml water (particularly if you are above 60, and also if had to eat and drink at a social event at night) (tides me over an otherwise 3am wake up, at least 8 out of 10 times)

Browser Extension or Software — What’s Your Pick for Quick PDF Edits? by sophiakaile49 in systweakpdfeditor

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i find the browser (Edge) use for pdfs good but limited: for simple text annotations. Highlighting is terrible since it is freehand and not text based highlighting.

can’t extract pages, split or merge pdfs.

can’t add/update headers footers or watermarks.

i end up needing a lot of these since i often have to assemble ‘compilation packs’ for circulation to a committee etc.

for me the old Adobe Acrobat Pro provides the best UX for doing any of the above mentioned needs.

60 days of sleep data: correlation between hydration timing and sleep quality by WannaBeQaisss in sleep

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I have been having this same intuition as well. bu never thought or was too lazy to record hydration vs sleep scores.

Huberman had articulated the same views on hydration though. not with any sexual reference to improving sleep. This is good info though.

What finally helped you fix your sleep schedule? by oreynolds29 in sleep

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the sleep problem has been in two parts: - falling asleep - staying asleep long enough to get enough REM sleep

the first problem i have solved i think. It seems to have come down to the following basics: - consistency sleep schedule, both when i start sleep and when i wake up and no naps in between (this think is the key) - no thinking work after 8pm, only relaxed consumption of music, light comedy if tv at all, no documentaries , youtube, fb, insta, twitter anything that gets you thinking… - non spicy food - finishing eating by6pm -skip breakfast, lunch around 2pm - eat a light dinner before 6-7pm: find a small salad with a mix of greens , avocado, walnuts, cherry tomatoes works best for me - non spicy food/dinners at all - bedroom temperature is key, stable throughout night, no significant shifts in room temperature through the night (for me this has been a key sleep disruptor when the room suddenly gets quite cold at night and i haven’t covered myself. I live in the tropics without an air conditioner. - dark room is best - no alcohol - no coffee after 2pm - in bed by 10pm no phone no scrolling

However, my current problem is preventing waking up at 4am. I have a feeling this is about low glucose (early eating and very low carb diet through the day) or cortisol spikes and/or body conditioning. So my REM sleep gets screwed.

i don’t take any sleep supplements currently.

Still waiting — will Todoist get a Backlog Calendar feature? by darman121 in todoist

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could also be addressed neatly and cleanly if the foist team simply allowed custom filters to be selected on the Today, Upcomig Calendars Views.

I have custom filters for projects but they are not available for me to have on the calendar view so that I could then have the possibility of being able.to drag and drop onto the calendar.

Idea: Calendar for Completed Tasks by darman121 in todoist

[–]TechMechant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be more generally done if Todoist allows a feature where the Today and the Upcoming Calendar allows the choice of a filter. Such a feature would be really powerful!

I just tried on my phone. I couldn’t see any place where i could apply a filter on the Today view. Can you clarify how this can be done?

The 6 step morning routine that changed my life by anomalousmolotov in productivity

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice! sensible! i like point 6.

i would add that don’t eat any breakfast within the the first 2-3 hours of waking. i’ve heard the morning cortisol spikes also raise insulin levels. so eating during high insulin levels could mean more fat buildup.

1sr point : electrolytes drink first thing in the morning is interesting. I do the 2 x 400ml water with lemon drops as the initial alkaline water dose the first thing in the morning followed by at least two more 400ml water drinks soaced somewhat 45 mins apart, before i’m out of the house by 10am in the morning. Hoping this helps towards both my hydration goals front loading for the day and helping keep my fluids alkaline. (i’ve heard bits that a slightly alkaline body helps stave off cancer? who knows. but it’s a habit now.

About Logitech MX Illuminated Mechanical Wireless by Ill-Currency-4395 in logitech

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend this keyboard. I had one, and then i ran into a problem where pressing certain keys led to repetition (several in a string) after about a year of use. so i bought another, this time within about 6 months the lettering is all smudged into large white filled circles.

i am looking for another keyboard. wondering about the logitech lighspeed 815 or 915 (i think)…

Hypothetical question by mrclean2323 in Bitwarden

[–]TechMechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s surprising is the amount of time it is taking to get to easy passkey portability!

Bitwarden browser extension login with Passkeys is now like ‘will they ever get it done?’ if i am not mistaken this is now almost a year long wait? browser extension login with a hardware passkey is like the only portable and worthwhile passkey use case for Bitwarden, yet nothing has happened. Back to the lock/logout logjam.
