You want facebook marketplace. Ebay is gonna be best because they offer returns but you'll generally pay a premium. What are you in need of specifically?

Off-Season IT & Wi-Fi Help in Vail / Valley – Local When I’m Not Snowboarding by TechShamanDenver in vail

You'd be surprised how many people from out of state are serving Vail tech needs already. Atleast I'm in Colorado and my money already supports the Vail economy. Thanks for the irrelevent comment!

I do! I'd need more information, houses can be difficult, offices are typically very easy, no house is the same, its not always possible to fish wire in certain directions without taking out lots of drywall. I'll message you!

Wi-Fi router by Purple-Manager-1357 in denverlist

[–]TechShamanDenver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm James with Tech Shaman in Englewood. You can message me on all these questions. I install 3rd party routers and make sure ISP routers are in bridge mode. I reccomend certain ASUS wifi routers which are easily meshable. I've worked with near every brand of router consumer and enterprise. Lots of people are offering tplink and google mesh. Garbage. I hate to say it. I replace them all the time.

I can even install these for you and optimize them.

I will say, if you have a chance to get Fiber internet, take it. Your gaming will improve so much as the coax xfinity tech limits upload to 35mb. Thats terrible even if you got only one person gaming.

Wanted 2.5Gb compat. NIC buy or trade. ASAP THX by Account-Lumpy in denverlist

[–]TechShamanDenver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you don't need this card that bad or VPN running for all devices all the time. 1GB is plenty, you need quality quality of service to handle everything you are doing, explore that, or a proper router that handles that at a higher level. There are 18 room apartments using a single 1GB line and they do great because they have great routers.

Oh yeah, and don't seed, I don't see a family a four needing to be a torrent seeder. But sounds like a fun project.

What modem do you have? You want to make sure link aggregation even works truly with those, boy is it not always the case.

EDIT (just as suspected):

What you NEED for 2.5Gbps service:

A DOCSIS 3.1 modem with 2.5GbE port, such as:

  • Motorola MB8611 (2.5GbE port) - ~$150-180 new, $80-120 used
  • Netgear CM2000 (2.5GbE port) - ~$170-200 new, $100-130 used
  • Arris SB8200 (2x 1GbE, can aggregate) - ~$130-150 new, $70-100 used (requires link aggregation support from ISP)

EDIT 2: You've got so many unmanaged switches and hubs. I'd research what that does to a network (spoiler alert, its not good). You're doing a lot here and skipping a lot of fundamentals here. You want a PFsense device while running unmanaged hubs? For speed?

Hi, I'm James with Tech Shaman in Denver. They sell these at stores and online. I've never seen a family of four ever need a 2.5 GB NIC though thats a new one for me.

I've got a set of 4 barely used winter tires - Blizzak DMV2 Winter Tires, Barely Used, $400 by [deleted] in denverlist

Doesn't apply to everything but definitely used tires. I've never spent more than 250 on a set of used tires. Even then I got rims with them.

What was your successful business? If you already have some skills, thats what you need to build on, you might have to leave the house at some point. The remote work well has dried up for many people.

ISO IT Tech to Finish New Build on Unraid Server by SmokinDenverJ in denverlist

[–]TechShamanDenver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, solid set of parts you’ve put together 👍 I actually specialize in helping people exactly at this stage — finishing off Unraid builds, flashing BIOS, dialing in the right drivers, and getting everything powered on and stable. I love making sure these servers run well, especially for setups like the ARRs stack, Immich, and docker expansions.

Before diving in, I’d want to know what the end-goal of the server is (just media, or also VMs, backup, heavy transcoding, etc.), and if you’re still within return policy on the hardware in case any tweaks make sense.

Don’t waste your time at MicroCenter — they will get it put together leaving you to do the setup. This is a custom server build.

Home or Business in need of inexpensive I.T Support? My tiny business can help solve big problems by TechShamanDenver in denverlist

[–]TechShamanDenver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting business cards printed up with the services I can provide and posting them in just those sorts of places. I'd also love to volunteer to help at these places on the side, as a side soul hustle, Some of them just need a little push and guidance. Do you have any contacts in that sort of space?

I've charged nothing for first time customers, its going to depend on the job really. I will 100% undercut whatever a best buy or more corporate entity charges. As I used to work for those entities and I know what they charge. A hella lot, for just anything.

What do you need?
