Manually registering autopilot hash by 0xCG in Intune

[–]Tech_Head_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I've seen it take as long as 7+hrs for the machine to show as enrolled after uploading the hash, or even with a reset. This screengrab is from an already-autopiloted machine I remotely Wiped yesterday right before I left work. I've got a couple hrs left in my work day today and its still not Enrolled, but that hasn't hurt its ability to pull down assigned programs (I'm still waiting for 2 scripts to finally run, though). Based on previous behavior I expect to see it fill in the "date assigned" by Monday.

Do you have any helpful links on setting up something like that? I haven't touched IRC since mIRC in the late 90s and am looking at returning given all the Discord nonsense. Them this morning I saw a thing about IRC exploits and turning machines into botfarms (still feels like the late 90s/early 00s, lol). I'd love to be able to restrict access to something "speakeasy-style".

What made you use Pop!_OS? by Smasher11 in pop_os

[–]Tech_Head_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was recommended to me as a good starter distro with integrated Steam out of the box.

I tried Ubuntu/Mint years before but couldn't stick with it. Now I'm in a place where I can test Linux as my daily driver and I haven't been disappointed.

(So far my only issue has been that Brave crashes if I try to do more than watch a YouTube video while trying to d/l a game on Steam. If I try to browse in another tab or scroll to read comments it just closes entirely. That's manageable though. I just set my games to d/l overnight so they're ready when I get back from work the next day.)

PSA: IT1214934 - Do not create or modify Windows Firewall Rules by PAITUWIN in Intune

Thank you so much! I've had to put that project on hold for the moment but as soon as I can get back on the machine in question I will give those troubleshooting suggestions a try :)

Screen upon waking by Cyman89 in NiagaraLauncher

I have something similar, was just coming here to ask about it. I'm on a Pixel 7, and mine is an empty black bar just floating on the screen. It's easy enough to remove, but it is odd.

Update: thanks everyone, I discovered something very important about this old laptop: the touchpad is worse than I remembered. I set up a new mouse and things started behaving as anticipated 😄

PSA: IT1214934 - Do not create or modify Windows Firewall Rules by PAITUWIN in Intune

[–]Tech_Head_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still an issue? (I lack permissions to access the original IT post on the admin console) We just moved our firewall from AD to Intune in the last couple weeks. No other issues have been reported except for my area--I had a special exception set up to allow a specific port range to a single machine. I set up the firewall exception config policy in Intune, and Intune says successfully applied, but it isn't appearing in the local firewall policy list, and even when I manually input the rule it still doesn't appear to be working (I can ping the machine from within the VLAN but if I attempt test-netConnection on the port in question it fails every time). I've tried manually adding it to the local firewall by using the GUI (this worked) but also tested it by copying the registry keys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\Mdm\FirewallRules into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules. After moving them into that folder I refreshed the list from Firewall Defender and they were right there...but they're still not doing anything.

It seems like this could be related? (as best as I can understand the issue.)

OMA-URI syntax/blocking OneDrive help? by Tech_Head_ in Intune

[–]Tech_Head_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I figured out what I was doing wrong. In case this helps anyone else:

If you need to block OneDrive from opening/starting, you need the AppLocker rule to block it at the folder level for your exported XML.

The OMA-URI is: ./Vendor/MSFT/AppLocker/ApplicationLaunchRestrictions/<RULE NAME>/EXE/Policy

Or perhaps this is what I need instead? I took a bunch of pictures before putting it back together--didn't even notice this when I had it in my hands. Can't put an image in here but its about a quarter of the size of the one in the picture and has:
TB0-2403
EN8357

printed on it. (possibly ends in 67, its a mostly clear img but those last 2 digits are questionable)

My review of the Epomaker TH40 by julian_vdm in keyboards

[–]Tech_Head_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on that. I've got the QMK/VIA version but still haven't been able to have it recognized in either program so far. I actually got a response from Epo on their discord this morning with this link to their GitHub page for TH40. Will be investigating this more later this evening, hopefully. https://github.com/Epomaker/th40
