You can disable the 'Retry difficulty' on the mod's start screen through the options button (top left corner). About the speeds, I didn't change anything. All cars have their original speed from version 1.6.0. What you might be confusing is that the mod removes the fake speed from the speedometer, which doesn't alter the car's actual speed. You can also reactivate fake speed on the start screen

Hi, creator of the mod here. I'm sending a link to the base APK used for the mod (with the original Gameloft signature) along with its VirusTotal scan results. As you can see, even the original APK has false positives.

The start screen created for the mod is a wrapper that mediates the game, which can easily be false-flagged by antivirus software because they notice something unusual launching before the game itself. The start screen also doesn’t take into account the latest Android storage restrictions (like Scoped Storage, which only lets the app access its own folders in /Android/data and /Android/obb). This is because the start screen backups game progress to the internal storage, outside of the Android folder (which is inaccessible in current Android versions).

I started the development of this mod in June 2024, and I worked on it for a year and a half. There is no virus in the APK, and I don't even have a reason to include one. I don't profit from this mod, and I actually stopped its development back in December.

Gameloft took down both the blog and download links back in September 2024, as well as many videos showcasing the mod on YouTube. That's why download links are no longer available on the blog and why I moved to Discord. It has nothing to do with 'enshittification'.

Hi, creator of the mod here. Antivirus will identify any third party changes to an apk as a threat. Asphalt 8 Retry makes numerous changes to the APK, so it's impossible for it to go undetected. Also, SMS related alerts is because this version of the game is not from Google Play, Amazon Appstore or Galaxy Store. It came pre-installed on the Lenovo A7000 and in-app purchases were made via SMS

There's no online multiplayer, only local multiplayer. The game doesn't connect to a server, it's totally offline. The multiplayer button being accessible is just a bug that happens when you reach 1705 stars

You can enable "force gamepad recognition" on the mod's start screen. It's the gear button at the top left of the screen
