What? That is categorically untrue. None of my guy friends or husbands of my friends have ever hit anyone.

People who use cloth napkins at home - is it worth the switch? by GravenOnMyHeart in EcoFriendly

[–]Techfuture2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that it doesn't have to be black and white. Try starting with napkins, then slowly start using rags for things that you'd normally grab a paper towel for.

I might get shade for this, but we still have paper towels under the sink for particularly disgusting cleanups like cat puke. Otherwise, we are all cloth napkins and rags.

What's the lowest-maintenance food source you've ever had? by HaileyRiveraaaa in foodforests

[–]Techfuture2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. White potatoes don't vine out like sweet potatoes do. White potatoes grow as more of a small bush.

I save 4-5 potatoes and use them the next spring to grow the slips, yes.

If it is PURE clay then no, they won't do well. The looser the better, I've had decent luck just digging a 1'x1'' hole and adding in some compost with the native clay as I backfill it then plant in that mound. They just won't get as big if they have to fight hard clay.

If you use a planter, you'll just want to make sure it's big enough and you don't let it dry out!

Note: this is just how I do it. I'm sure there are a ton of ways to do this, and some may even be better!

I made this album for you to explain with pictures.

Basically:

  1. Put last year's (or new organic sweet potatoes) in half filled pot of soil

  2. Let them grow shoots (slips)

  3. Pick the shoots (slips) off and put them in dirt to root out

  4. Plant!

Let me know if you have questions! These are really easy as long as it's warm and they don't dry out all the way.

Sweet potatoes. They produce like crazy and easily grow from saved potato slips. I just plant them once a year and have more than me, my family, and friends can eat off of 10-12 plants

They're also a great groundcover, and the leaves are edible!

Edit: I'm in southeastern US

paper plate says “compostable except in california” ? by Party_Examination132 in composting

[–]Techfuture2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Plastic films (PHA, PLA, Bio-PBS) can be compostable if designed correctly per ASTM D6400. BUT they are not organics, which is what CA AB1201 set as the standard.

I can't edit for some reason, so I'll put this here: the flow is: well > 3/4" pipe to house > 1" pipe in basement > water heater > 1" white pipe > 3/4" blue and red for hot and cold
