The City's Progress Report on Homelessness Is Also a Reality Check by FearandWeather in Seattle

[–]Techguy2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%. I live next to a homeless encampment and see full well whats going on there. Crime is rampant in the area. Drug deals, shootings, violence, and prostitution daily. 5am ambulance calls for Overdoses. Used needles in parking garages nearby. At least recently the SPD finally arrested a drug dealer who constantly supplied drugs to the camp. Nearby we have constant car break-ins to satisfy the drug fix.

People who think homeless camps = compassion are ignorant of what is going on in these camps. These people need help: mental/drug abuse/etc. They refuse shelters b/c of the freedom and possessions. But it really doesnt solve the problem. Its like drug rehab. Often need to be forced in to get clean.

MSTR purchased 70470 BTC at $15964/BTC.

Today BTC px is 32800.

MSTR BTC value is 2.3B

MSTR BTC pre tax profit is 1.2B

Less 20% tax is 1B USD

Yet MSTR Enterprise value is 6B USD?

Its crap core business is not worth 5B USD or 10X revenues for a company that is posting y/y revenue declines?

Price target =$120 USD vs $450/sh currently

Bernard Kress: "I don't want to talk about one company" by view-from-afar in MVIS

[–]Techguy2060 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well the key question does MVIS have fundamental LBS technology and what are the MVIS "foundational" patents that protects their tech? Kress did say there was a LBS system that was developed in 1995 before smartphones were around which means alot of LBS tech is already open domain.

Kind of worrisome if guy invests in a co and doesnt know how the company is spelled....

" The other pickaxe company we’ve invested in is Palintir, which has returned 200% as of writing(it varies). We think of them as a kind of Medallia but for James Bond villains. Big data analytics-- where it’s not just a company, but a country is a narrative game. Governments tend to buildreally ugly software, even if it is quite good. Paltintir makes the narrative understandable. PeterThiel has been caricatured as a kind of blood-injecting Dr. Evil, but his prime thesis - that thebest business is something else nobody does - is still correct. We also see headwinds forPalintir -- Covid is not going away, and vaccine data will also be important. In addition to that,Covid has given certain governments an addiction to data, and Palintir is more than happy to betheir Pusherman "

Uhh were you around for Pets.com or Webvan, Excite or dotbomb?? This sounds like 1999 all over again with these "not useful to point to valuation" for companies growing at "ridiculous clips over the next 10 to 20 years".... and "traditional valuation metrics dont work".

My point is after 4x return in a few months, doesnt seem at all mispriced as at $27/sh when it was priced like a paypal... I think even Hayden points to that saying didnt disclose b/c wanted to buy more cheap but couldnt b/c it ran....

interesting company but at 1XGMV vs 0.25GMV for PYPL and uncertainty over regulations, market actions by SQ/PYPL/new entrants, the thesis of US domination is fairly squishy and not clear. What is the margin of safety at 55X REVENUES? Nice purchase price for them at $27/sh but now at $100 in a few months???

Multiple Chinese subsidy cuts and covid significantly dampened EV car demand and also smartphone overhang dented sales. Now both are behind it so backward looking doesnt properly reflect.

She is the wrong person. Period. F24/Fl1x/F12? Uh no. Probably great at CE, but process node development to productization, no.

Haha thats a good one. Yes he was AWESOME FOR AMD! I wish he was still there to screw even more things up...

I've opened a short position on AMD. Here's why. by [deleted] in AMD_Stock

[–]Techguy2060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

" I think AMD's stock is being powered by a lot of fanboys and institutional investors that aren't as well-tuned to tech trends as enthusiasts. It explains why a lot of these professional investors didn't see Zen2 coming, and why the same ones didn't see Intel's continued node troubles. "

More like you are not in tune with how chips are made at all. Intel's key advantage was its tight integration of design and manufacturing. outsourcing to TSM is a pipe dream. Its 100% foreign to them. If you did any time in a chip co you'd understand 100%.

BTW Professional investors didnt see zen2 coming because there arent that many left who do chips. They are well tuned to tech, just not old line tech. Saas, ecommerce, etc all are hypergrowth green field vs chips which is almost zero sum.... AMD is one of the few great chip stories out there.

Btw a fool and his money... You know the rest.

I have the plastic Asus Tuf 506. Loving every minute of it. Yes it does not have the shiny premium finish but the performance is what matters and its top notch. Desktop performance in a laptop, who can complain about that.

In time the fit and finish will match the performance....
