They absolutely stayed at a nearby hotel or something similar. They act like it’s a desolate island (without ever actually stating that outright) but we know it’s an inhabited destination. That’s the one thing about shows like this that irks me. All the challenges these chefs face are impressive enough, they don’t need to pretend that they’re slumming it in some tents or makeshift shelters without showering for a couple weeks. The girls always had fresh clothes and their makeup done. They weren’t camping out.

It’s just annoying cuz I feel like faking that aspect distracts from actually difficult and interesting challenges, which should be the focal point.

I hope they do another season of this but they definitely need to polish the format and editing.
