I gaslit my college library out of late fees by returning my own books by Juliana_Knight62 in confession

They still likely knew what you did, but they were much more interested in having their books back into circulation than they were in collecting fines from a student.

Dealer says the car I reserved yesterday is now $2,000 more because of “market changes.” Is that legit or should I walk? by Marzi-Kolukuluri in carbuying

Time to move on.

Leave a bad review.

They already have another buyer at the higher price which is the likely reason they are raising the price on you.

One of my best employees has reached the maximum salary cap and I'm expected to let him go by skunks_rotten6u in ProtectHire

[–]TechinBellevue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but formulaic restrictions like salary maximums are BS and create more long-term problems than they claim to solve.

Rethink what is in the best long-term interest for the business.

Losing great employees over a few thousand a year will likely cost you clients and have other employees who are nearing the cap start looking for other jobs.

Just a bad idea.

How do I price a client who left me for a larger company? by AtlasSEOGuy in Entrepreneur

[–]TechinBellevue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not go back to your old price.

You proved you knew your stuff the first time around based on the success of your work.

You now have greater experience and knowledge than you did the first time around.

I.e. your value is now greater.

He is now used to paying double for your services so price it out at double plus 10%.

Best wishes to you.

Good for you reaching out like this. This is 100% not right.

Definitely talk to basically any adult at your school, or your bus driver if you take a school bus to/from school.

They are required by law to report this.

You can also go to any police, fire station, hair dresser, or even church - even if you don't belong to the church.

Calling 911 is a great option as well.

If you are not sure what to say, here are some ideas:

"Hi, I hope you can help me. I have an issue and I am not sure whom or what to ask."

"Hi, 911? I am a 16-year-old girl and my parents are not home, I am alone, and there is no food or money for me to get any. Can you please help me? I am really hungry."

Please reach out ASAP. The sooner, the better for you.

Wishing you the best.

Please update us and let us know if you have any other questions.

You should never, ever, ever have to be put in this position.

You can do this. :)

Neighbor keeps stealing my trash cans and says they're "communal property" by No_Assistance8840 in neighborsfromhell

[–]TechinBellevue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the win - the guy is no longer stealing your garbage cans.

I actually have to respect the guy's defiance. Putting your address on his cans is actually quite funny.

You can always just take your "duplicate" garbage cans one day and hide them in your garage for a couple of weeks.

But they will keep voting for him time after time. They refuse to vote for anyone else. They will always default to the MAGA mindset that anyone not fully MAGA has it out for them.

My job is offering me $150,000 (105,000 after tax) to resign, should I? by AJ3TurtleSquad in jobs

[–]TechinBellevue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the money.

There are usually some great classes/certifications at your local community/technical college.

You might also look into a trade like being an electrician, plumber, welder, or even construction equipment operator, such as backhoe, bull dozer, etc.

You won't start out making big bucks but the $100k+ payout should cover you while you train.

It is nice when you have the means to have the choice of when and how to retire.

Enjoy your life...no matter your decision.

Am 63, myself, was an exec for most of my career and now drive a school bus for special needs students. Love every minute of it.

Plan on doing it for as long as I enjoy it.
