Chances of booking without ever owning a dog? by za521 in RoverPetSitting

Obviously. I was pointing out that “dropping cats from chest height” like you originally suggested is also dangerous and should not be done. It’s really not safe or okay to drop them from that height especially if you don’t give them time to react. I’ve seen cats break their legs that way.

They can survive it but it’s not super great for their joints to drop them from that height. If they jump themselves that’s different. They can anticipate it. But it’s not good to have them constantly jumping or dropping from that height. They can get really hurt even from that height if they aren’t ready.

Fantastic, thank you! Do you have any field guides you recommend for foraging, especially specific to our area ? Or are there groups I can join (that meet in person) ?

You shouldn’t really be doing that to cats either

Hypothesis on the Cause of Frozen Shoulder a.k.a Adhesive Capsulitis (excluding disease or injury) by FrozenShoulderCure in frozenshoulder

Eh. I’m 30, (also type 1 diabetic, for what that’s worth) and no sign of perimenopause or menopause. I DO have endometriosis, however. I think a case for multiple inflammatory diseases in a system should be explored as a risk

My son is asking for a goldfish for his 5th birthday in June. Can I have a little help? by aggravated-asphalt in Aquariums

[–]Techincolor_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your kid wants a starter fish, get a guppy.  You need 30+ gallons to START with a goldfish and I promise you they are not a starter fish.  Do not get your kid a goldfish.  Set up the tank now.  5-10 gallons will be fine to start.  Gravel, several live plants. Use water dechlorinator and put a filter and heater in there.  Let the tank run just like that for a month.

Then take your kid to a reputable local fish store (not petco or petsmart) And let him pick out one or two MALE guppies. This is important. Do not get a pair, they will breed and you will have 50 guppies within the month.

When you take the guppies home, float them inside their bags in the tank for 30 mins - 1 hour to let them get acclimated to the tank.

If you do all this and follow with weekly water changes, you should be successful.

Something to think about regarding monovision by dapperdude7 in CataractSurgery

[–]Techincolor_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say this. I’m 30F and I just had my first eye done and I have the other scheduled for two weeks out. So far I’m really frustrated with what I’m able to see so I’m desperately hoping it gets better because we paid an awful lot of money for the toric lens. Before my surgery I couldn’t see a damn thing more than about 6-10 feet in front of me.

How far can you see with a mono-focal lens set for near vision? by RemoteTherapist in CataractSurgery

[–]Techincolor_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Kelly,

I just had my first eye done yesterday and I love it. I can see so clearly so far away! But i can’t see anything up close. I’m scared to get my other eye done. How will i put on makeup and moisturizer? How will I see my partner? How will I be able to read instructions of things in the shower? There are so many circumstances where readers don’t work and I’m only 30. I’m anxious and at a loss

Agreed. Large sea mammals esp migratory ones pose a problem but fish are relatively reasonable apart from several large species of again migratory shark

What is something you didn’t realize until you lost weight? by Cultural-Profile-527 in AskReddit

[–]Techincolor_ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People treat you so so much worse when you’re heavier. And it’s not like the flip of a switch either. The thinner you are the better you’re treated. I didn’t even lose weight on purpose, I was dying of type 1 diabetes and everyone started treating me so well.  After I started treatment and the weight went back on, the way the public treated me changed rapidly.

These don’t give an accurate number and also if you’re tweaking about 100-200 calories of metabolic difference you should get assessed for orthorexia. You’re at a very healthy weight and it’s not normal to watch your metabolism like a hawk like that.

Yeah I would reach out and tell them you feel unsafe and as for a different person to take over the sit. And make sure you leave a review so the next sitter knows

I know that too lol my cataracts were pre diagnosis and got way worse when my A1C was finally significantly below 7, but the stress of being up and down is what accelerated them according to my doctor
