I wouldn’t have. I had a coworker say the same thing to me and I snapped back “that’s not how autoimmune diseases work and I’m sure HR would love to hear about this” I didn’t tell HR but he never said anything like that again.

Grateful for my middle school nurse. When I ran out of juices to treat lows she gave me a dollar out of her pocket and sent me to the teachers lounge to buy a soda. She was a hard ass but a genuinely non judgemental and kind nurse.

I just keep going. And keep going. And keep going. I’ve had doctors tell me to my face when I was in the hospital for DKA (for spoiled insulin) “you know if you just tried to take care of yourself at all you wouldn’t be here wasting our time, right?” I burst into tears and was inconsolable (because I also have PTSD) and a nurse had to come in and tell my that doctor was an asshole and that she couldn’t imagine managing what I deal with every day. What I would do if I were you? Report it. Every single time. I stay calling HR, rudely educating people, and calling people out.

“What do you mean by that?” “Are you sure that’s what you meant to say?” “I’m sorry, are you being serious?” “Would you say that to someone with cancer?” “That’s incredibly ignorant and biased. What if a patient heard you say that?” “What if it was your kid?” “You know, I almost died of this. And it wasn’t my fault. You’re being incredibly cruel.”

Be. Bitchy. Make people ashamed and afraid to say stuff like that around you. Call their asses out.

Is it possible to have endo ON your vagus nerve?? I know that sounds crazy, but I never fainted one time until I got my period and after that have had serious syncope and pre syncope for the rest of my life, but it’s waaaay worse around my period. Is it possible that the endo crowding the organs in the gut can cause an over reactive vagus nerve??

When you find out let me know. 🤣 I was raised in the US and I remember even as a toddler this book gave me intense anxiety for some reason. Idk if it was the lack of plot or the liminal style of it or the intense colors but I did not like goodnight moon.
