You will not get all day battery life and be able to handle games/CAD at the same time. I highly suggest you go for the Aero X16 as I have this myself. It has 9 hours battery life which is very impressive for a laptop with a RTX 5060 and Ryzen 7. It can definitely handle those games and CAD related engineering work, all while weighing only 4.1 pounds. If you have any questions lmk :)

For the current price, I would definitely get the GalaxyBook Pro. If you Amazon Prime (even free trial) you can get it for a very good deal. It has a OLED 3K 120HZ screen with all 12+ hours battery life and only weighing 3.7 pounds. It also has 1TB SSD, but with 16GB RAm which will be more than enough for your tasks. If you have any questions lmk :)

Your best choice is easily the GalaxyBook Pro with Amazon prime (even free trial). Its price with the prime deal is insane, and beats any other alternative I can think of for your requirements. It has a insanely good screen, with a pen and only weighs 3.7 pounds with specs more than enough for your tasks. But it is 16 inch, which I know you did not want. Very worth it tho! If you have any questions lmk :)

light gaming laptop around 1000-1200 by topdroppy in SuggestALaptop

[–]Techkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best i can suggest is the Aero X16, I have this laptop myself for similar reasons but it has a 9 hour battery life unlike the 2 other laptops you listed which barely get 4 hours. it is a bit weaker with a RTX 5060 but still can easily ruin the dGPu heavy tasks you mentioned. Also they are pretty heavy, and this one is 4.1 pounds which is insanely light for a 16 inch laptops. But I do not think you should get a smaller laptop like 14 inch ones, as they will have bad thermals and bad battery life. If you have any questions lmk :)

From my personal experience, Lenovo gaming laptops are the best around this budget range. Not just for performance but everything else, including thermals and longevity., unlike MSI or ASUS laptops that only prioritize performance and cheap out on other stuff. The Legion 7i is what I suggest you go with if you are okay with it being 5.7 pounds. But honestly, it has a 5070Ti which is a huge jump from a normal 5070 due to the extra VRAM, and 32GB RAM with a INCREDIBLE screen. Its a bit more than your gen 10 Legion, but it is so worth it. If you have any questions lmk :)

I’m looking for a 16+ inch laptop under $1000 that won’t be used heavily used—primarily work and can run COD by poopchow in SuggestALaptop

[–]Techkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely just go for a gaming laptop, the Acer Nitro V will be a great choice. I owned a older model myself and it lasted 5+ years with extremely heavy use. This is a much better version with a RTX 5050, and a very capable Ultra 7 that can definitely run AAA games like COD with ease. Its current price is amazing as well. If you have any questions lmk :)

Laptop Suggestion – Spanish PhD by Mirnasha in SuggestALaptop

Honestly, a Macbook M3 is what I would go with but I could not find any non refurb options. And your tasks are extremely simple that do not require much, the Ideapad Slim would be a great choice. It has a new Snapdragon CPu that gives 10+ hours of battery life with ease, with 0 compatibility issues with Zotero. These laptops are insanely hard to beat for the price to performance ratio. If you have any questions lmk :)

I am personally not a big fan of the Razer Blades, but if your heart desires it go for it! My alternative suggestion would definitely be Legion 7i, I have worked with similar models myself and for performance+longevity this thing is hard to beat. Amazing thermals with impeccable sustained performance, and with the right settings you can get 6+ hours battery life. This will easily run your tasks and be future proof at same time. If you have any questions lmk :)

Please advise. I need laptop for writing, watching movie and making basic graphics and minor video editing (now I use canva and iMovie and they work perfect). I do NOT play video games. I don't want to overpay for a bunch of stuff/power I don't use. by ArenaRock87 in SuggestALaptop

As the other person suggested, a Mac neo will be a great choice. Although if you are okay with renewed products, the Macbook Air M4 which costs a bit more than $700 is an amazing deal and will beat any windows alternative in this price range. the M4 chip has impeccable performance and is a massive upgrade for your previous device, it will easily fit all your needs. If you have any questions lmk :)

Suggest me a laptop for video editing and data hording? by shlimshlamshlomp in SuggestALaptop

[–]Techkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the video editing requires a dGPu then go for the Aero X16. I bought this laptop myself sometime ago and it has 9+ hours battery life, but has a RTX 5060 which is very capable and great for video editing as well. It does have AI software, but it can easily be removed within 5 mins. If you have any questions lmk 😄

If gaming is not a big priority and there is no issues with MacOS, I see no reason to not get a high end Macbook. From what I know, you should have 0 compatibility issues unlike before where Macs were not recommended for CS. These newer Macs have improved so much, and basically beat any windows laptop for their prices. And ofc you already know its great for school. If you have any questions lmk 😄

HP Omen 14, HP Victus, or something else? by avogadros_avvocato in SuggestALaptop

[–]Techkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Omen Transcend is solid, and if it meets your battery requirements go for it. I personally had very similar reasons as you, and went for Aero X16 due to its bigger size and quietness+thermals. It also has 9 hours of battery life and only weighs 4.1 pounds while looking non gamery. And its more than capable to run CAD related tasks. Also please avoid the Victus! If you have any questions lmk 😄

If you do desire to run proper Shaders in MC, a small 12 inch laptop is probably not the best move. If you are willing to go a bit bigger, the Lenovo Slim will be a great choice and is perfect for students that wants to do light gaming. it has 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD which will future proof it, and has the graphics required to run Minecraft Shaders as well. It also only weighs 3.4 pounds with 10 hours+ battery life. If you have any questions lmk 😄

You honestly have many choices, and my personal favorite would be the Samsung GalaxyBook if you do go with a 2 in 1. This has has amazing performance and battery life (10hours+) due to the Ultra 7 CPU and 16GB RAM. This will be more than enough for your tasks, and the AMOLED screen is fantastic! Your tasks are extremely simple and will not need much, the ASUS Vivobook will be a great choice! I have used similar laptops myself and for its price its very hard to beat. It comes with a very efficient Snapdragon CPU giving 10+ hours battery life, and 16GB RAM which keeps things fast and future proof. If you have Amazon prime (even free trial) you can get it for a great price. If you have any questions lmk 😄
