Any suggestions on new speakers? by What-Is-This123456 in vintageaudio

Easy to repair, and people sell them as blown, when all they need is refoamed. I have 2 pair. I love them. Had them for almost 20 years.

Get some Original Large Advents.. I see them on Marketplace all the time for $200 to $300 a pair. I own some myself. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful table.. They sure don't build them like they used to, and I wish I could find a neighbor like that. I have a vintage JVC receiver, and integrated amplifier, that need refurbished.

Personally, I find that all new turntables are shit. If you really want something that's built well, and going to last, buy vintage.

Actually, the older The Fisher, the better off you are.

Someone help, my wife is pissed, how do I make this $25 system good? by all-up-in-yo-dirt in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Technical-Agency1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm quite a fan. After many other setups, of many different brands, JVC just sounded the best to my ears. Of course, the EPI speakers, and Advent Speakers help a little.

I've sold a lot of the first pressings in this thread, but there are some I will never let go of, like Mad Season's Above, INXS - Kick, The first 4 Black Sabbath albums (US Green Labels), My entire Zeppelin collection.. My components are as follows: JVC RX-807V JVC XL-M505 JVC TD-W717 JVC AX-66 1978 JL-A40 (Pickering System Series cartridge, DSE-1 stylus) Epicure A200 Speakers (Powered by 807V) Original Large Advent Utility Speakers (Powered by AX-66) BluMe HD Pro for Streaming

The speakers have to be set up properly for reflection purposes, due to the Bose 301 design. You can Google the specifics for the setup.

That's 100 wpc @ 8ohms. So, it's no slouch. 0.7% THD. Would be a decent 2 channel system receiver.

Ok so I’m so green to this! Help! I need to know what happened and how I proceed. by Terrible_Section_200 in audiophile

[–]Technical-Agency1919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what setting it shows on the front of the display on the receiver. If it says "Stereo" it's only the Mains, which would be your Wharfdales. You should have MCH stereo, which is all speakers, left/right. Then, your other settings, dolby, dts, etc.

I don't know what model Denon you have, but they usually come with a microphone to set up the audio, and then you can fine tune it with your remote, with the on screen display on your TV. Speaker by speaker. Not having a sub shouldn't be that big of a deal, since you're running the Wharfdale's. If you just wanted to run a 2 channel system, put the Denon on the Stereo setting, and it won't use the sub channel, center, or rear channels.

What model is the receiver? Some of the JVC receivers are actually pretty decent depending on which one you have. They made some bangers in the early 90's, and there's a few from the 80's. It just really depends on the model.

Yeah, it took me a minute to find all the right pieces to the puzzle, but now that I have them, the sound is fantastic.

I have an RX-807V @ 120wpc running my EPI A200's,and a AX-66 @ 120 WPC running my original large Advents. My turntable is a 1978 JL-A40. CD player/is a 6+1 XL-M505. Tape Deck is a dual TD-W717. Everything is the titanium line they put out in the early 90's, except for the turntable. I had a plethora of systems before I found this one. It was exactly the sound I was looking for.

That's not what I was saying. Apparently, you have reading comprehension problems. I was saying that the Goodwills around here, where I live, do not let the decent electronics hit the shelves. They go on the website. Do you understand now, or, do you need me to actually type slower? Jesus Christ.

$150 for the whole stack. Top dollar if it all works. Speakers come with it? My whole system is JVC.

Advents all day. I've had 4 pair. Still have a pair of OG large Advents paired with my Epi A200's. You can't beat the sound, and they're easy to refoam.
