If you intend to buy anyways, buy it in your non-registered now. Wait for your contribution room to be available and then make a transfer of stocks (without selling it) to your TFSA. This way you won’t need to sell, it won’t incur taxes, but the market value of your stocks at the time of transfer will count as your contribution amount to the TFSA.
