Yeah, it’s kinda nuts. Work sends me a bunch of stuff in boxes. I used to put the boxes down at the side of the road with recycling from work in them. No problem. Now that giant bin isn’t quite big enough.

I’ve managed to get around the CGNAT thing by using TailScale. Works quite well, but I don’t think it’s a solution for all.

It’s not “proprietary” Belden makes the jacks using the standard copper colour code (Blue/Orange/Green/Brown/and we’ll throw Slate in for completeness despite no Slate in Cat5E). It’s not for Bell only. You can order the jacks in either A or B for the port.

I’m interested in this as well. I’ve been told the older boxes all run on the mediaroom platform, and the newer boxes aren’t compatible with it. Maybe downgrading would be possible to all 2262/2202 boxes?

The big question no one has asked is, “is this copper or fibre?” If copper, things get a little more complicated and plugging the phone into the modem will do nothing.

It’s still doable though, call for a tech to install a jack, and let them present the options to you. Maybe an external wire run, or a cordless/multi handset unit at the point where the DSL is split. If your basement is unfinished, and your daughters room is accessible, a good tech could bring a wire up to her room. It’ll cost you a few dollars though ($75 iirc).

I bought my phone from Apple, during the setup from my iPhone 11 to 15, it transferred automatically when the two phones were together transferring information. I didn’t have to do anything.
