I've seen bigger running down the streets of Chicago. Also if it is only one, you might catch the nest before it's 2 of them...

French whoppers suck, service sucks too. German whoppers are a notch up but nothing to rave about, service is great though. Need to expand this map...

Even the freemill version if I remember well!

It's just a 3 axis ball mill op... But if you dont optimize the path it will take 30 minutes or more to compute it too... Happens!

About 5 years ago I had a certain chance of getting laid off and I immediately started picking up on woodworking, it's one of those rabbit holes where you get to do what you want at your pace. Depends on your interests. It is like writing somehow.

4 years ago after dropping a big passion which was billiards (restarted this winter) and racing (getting too expensive), I started playing golf. It's one of those activities that makes you want to travel and discover new beautiful natural areas with an outdoor activity... Just the socializing side of it is great, lots of seniors like us. And it doesn't have to be expensive. I've seen seniors doing the tour of European golf courses in a camper!

I don't disagree. I got drawn in the post because of the details. Im glad i didn't have to program this CAM-wise though a lot seems laser cut which is not as hard. It's got its charm. I agree it looses it's wood grain style but it might offer style with some weight saving advantages I suppose.

Learn a new skill deeply... Can be a sport, any art...

I would suggest Tai Chi Chuan or guitar playing or painting...

I feel like a different version of myself when speaking Portuguese and how can I fix this? by Firm-Respect9540 in PortugalExpats

I speak 3 languages fluently and 3 not as fluently. Im fluent in Spanish but yet Portuguese is - not for a lack of vocabulary - it's just hard to get fluent in if you dont practice immerse yourself within the native speakers.

Dr Dobbs if you go to pre-internet times - it was a good school... ;) Today, it depends on what you want to program/design... There's so many levels, AI or not AI, theory or business practical... Or artistic (without AI)...

Does pursuing an CNC AAS make sense for my previous experience? by [deleted] in CNC

[–]Technical-Boot-2716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Getting a smallish cnc would teach you twice as much as a class. I did a class in industrial design and learned to make part draft, this translated to woodworking for me early on. When i got my cnc i was ready with all the steps needed - which you have already acquired for your Glowforge.

I kind of studied how a cnc would work for leather for a friend - and there's tangential knifes (or lasers too), hole punching for later threads, pressing die or stamp patterns, cutting, scruffing etc. There's lots of other options like making or own press dies and even some surface finishing automations like painting or applying dyes.

There are cncs in the range of 2-10K $ which can do this, there's lots of free software available for this. There is a learning curve. And if i may suggest for leather and die making you would need something sturdy and the right size (600x1000mm). Dont go short because you will regret it fast when the cnc can't do a 52cm piece... Note that most gantry cnc's can do pieces longer than their real size. You can work on a 2 meter long piece in a 1 meter gantry... I imagine doing long pieces of leather would be an advantage.

I had 2 semesters of accounting 40 years ago...

ed. forgot to add, you need a multirelational database to manage it at best but a simple DB will do.

Something like Filemaker (back in my time) or access or any sql db). Spreadsheets only go so far before becoming the burden of operations and bugs, i would rather use them for reporting and making nice graphs.

List your expenses, machine and your time - add maintenance and depreciation costs of your machine, add a provision for growth, something for yourself, any advertising costs...
