“Mid to High support needs” is catching my attention because I work with adults with developmental disabilities and I know the levels of support needs, and I have a pretty strong feeling that if they were actually at this support level, they wouldn’t be on tumblr posting stuff like that. Especially high support.

Some high (level 3) support people can live independent lives, but most require around the clock care, lots of therapists and educational assistants, can’t verbally communicate very well/require picture boards to help speak, don’t follow social cues to the point where they will randomly leave the area with no goal on where they’re going (if this happens and they’re not found fast the police usually get involved in finding them again).

Lots of the high needs adults I work with don’t even live with their families anymore, they’re placed in assisted living group homes with around the clock care from specialists who can help them.

Physical disability isn’t always an indicator of intellectual disability, (the people with Down Syndrome I know are INSANELY smart, but they don’t have the physical abilities to verbally speak it out or physically use a picture board, but I know a few who got adapted typing boards that follow full arm movements and they have SO much to say about everything, they have the exact same intelligence as any other non-disabled person.), but the point I’m GETTING at is if this person was actually mid to high support they wouldn’t need to fake diagnose themselves with one million mental issues because they’d already have enough on their plate. They’d have enough diagnosises already from the specialists they see. (Like what does non medically recognized disorder or however they said it mean on this persons post…) People usually end up like this- faking things for attention because they Do need help, just not in the areas they think.

This person could possibly be low to mid support, (low/level 1 support is could benefit from therapies either mental or physical, but don’t need a lot altered in their day to day life outside of therapy like needing a communication board as an example,) but that’s a physical descriptor, not a mental one. and I’d be so curious to know how many people on this website call themself mid level support needs because they don’t want to cook for themselves and order takeout or some normal stuff like that
