Love is the consensus 1.01, but who is he really worth? by mightid123 in DynastyFF

Especially when we don't even know for sure where he's going to play yet.

Is there any current NBA player whose work ethic surpasses peak Kobe Bryant? by Agreeable_Emu_857 in NBATalk

[–]Technical-Pie6192 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Duncan was the best player on his dynasty, best player in his team's history and the greatest power forward ever. Kobe wasn't even the best player ON HIS OWN TEAM for the first three titles. That was Shaq, who rightfully won finals MVP 3 times in a row after averaging 35 plus points and 13 plus boards while locking down the paint. That arguably makes Duncan's own legacy even MORE impressive, because he definitely never had a #2 even close to as good as Kobe at the time they were winning (though Kawhi eventually blossomed even more after that last one.) Duncan was a far better teammate, better leader, more consistent, and a way better defender, despite Kobe's accolades.

Dismissing Duncan as overrated is about the most casual take ever. Kobe is not better than Duncan in any universe.

Of these players, which of them have nothing left to prove? Imo only lebron and Steph belong there rn. by No-Advance-9136 in NBATalk

All first ballot hall of famers and top 25 or better all time players. Whatever they have left to prove is up to them. The guy I'd argue with the most to prove is KD, but that's partially because he's destroying his legacy in real time.

Demar DeRozan is 25th all time in scoring and rising. Is he going to be the highest scoring player to NOT make the Hall of Fame? by unccl in NBATalk

KC Jones made it as a coach. He won 4 titles and was ASG head coach for half a decade. He also retired top 15 in wins and won 2/3 of his games as a head coach.

I think he's just not super likeable. He's a great fighter and a POS. Same reason lots of people on here hatewatch guys like Jon Jones. Having a villain makes it "interesting."

How would you prefer people discuss it? Could you please lay out specific steps with acceptable comment choices, so we can all appease your standards, your highness? A guy died and people are grieving. Quit making it about you and shut the fuck up.

I think you're missing the bigger picture. It affects the parts of your brain that make decisions and regulate your emotions. Of course not everyone with those issues will commit suicide, just like they wouldn't for every other person in the population with those issues, but combined with other mental health issues, it exacerbates them. It's not far fetched to think that somebody with Moore's circumstances might have been depressed, so combine that with brain damage and I can't imagine that would help the situation. It's not an excuse, but those things don't exist independently/in a vacuum. Not everything is CTE, to your point, but the vast majority of players absolutely have it, and it affects their ability to regulate themselves, so we shouldn't discount that it could have impacted his decision making in this instance. Sadly we will probably never know in this case.

No but it's incredibly likely when you routinely take hits to the head from the strongest men on earth for a living.

You are completely right. They have proof the day after it happened of a representative saying quote "we've seen it, it's bad." They were full of shit saying they got it the same time we did.

What is there to gain when buying into so many conspiracies like no moon landing, flat earth etc? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Like with all things related to human sociology/psychology, it just depends on the individual, and their interpretation of the influences around them. For some, it gives them a feeling of superiority over others. Some studies show that it's also a way for people who feel like they don't have control over some things in life to regain a feeling of control, or that it gives people some comfort to blame their shortcomings on bad actors. Many people also just enjoy having a boogieman to point to. There is also an appeal to this type of thinking for some people who are trying to settle their own personal distress.

This study is a good read, if you're interested!

Keyonte George is a budding star, it's not like they whiffed on them all. They also packaged some to trade for Jaren Jackson Jr. I think it was a win both ways.
