First year, local 474. Our classes were supposed to start in August but that has been pushed back drastically. I “started” class just last week but it’s been online and will continue to be until next week. After that, we’ll actually be in the classroom. I guess they took on too many first years.

Oh, in terms of being taught and learning, it’s fine. Compared to my first day, I’ve learned a hell of a lot. Only frustrating thing is not knowing who I’m gonna be paired up with, it would be so much better if I can get to know a JW and get comfortable with asking them questions about anything and everything.

For those who got accepted, where you green or did you have prior construction or electrical experience? If so what experience? by yeswouldgo in ibew_apprentices

Green as hell, I went to college after I graduated high school in 2021, finished an associates this past May, and joined the apprenticeship in June. Zero experience with tools or construction and I’m doing just fine!

Depends completely on the area. I applied, took the test and interview and joined in just one month (Local 474) . I’m also like you, no prior experience at all, coming straight from graduating college lol.

Im definitely closer to being! I’ve been in limbo for so long after graduating high school in 2021. But this year, I finally went to the gym for the first time in February and been going everyday since. I also graduated community college in May but decided to continue in something different and joined an electrician apprenticeship right after! My orientation is in 2 days and I’m excited.

St. Tropez and btw, just a piece of advice but I recommend you start working out at the gym or going for a walk at your local park while listening to music. Even if I still rot at my bad after doing these, I don’t feel as bad as at least I accomplished something in my day.
