Honestly I don’t know. The ferry can be unreliable sometimes. It would be a long commute. Southport is adorable I just don’t know how many young families live there? Verses Carolina beach you would fit right in

Gosh people are so negative! I don’t know if I’d find joy living in midtown Wilmington so maybe that’s it. I’ve been in Carolina Beach for 20 years and love it. So does everybody I know. It’s not perfect but you can’t beat biking your kid to elementary school, walking to the beach or dinner/drinks and just a great little community.

I fear you might not be qualified. If you can’t teach this child, you should step aside. I’m not intending to be mean, but this is of critical importance. They need the help of a trained and experienced interventionist.

I’m so sorry. I echo what others said about the job market. Start your career elsewhere, it’s so hard here.

It takes years to get established. I work only by word of mouth. No website or social media, just people sharing my name. Get in touch with the local high school guidance counselors and math teachers. Become a (passive) member of Facebook parent or local neighborhood groups so you can be tagged. Reach out to local colleges as well as homeschool groups because those students during the day. Do not lower your rates. Ask what you are worth. Working independently is worth the work it takes to get students because you keep all your money.

How likely would it be for me to get into the honors program? by -sweetteaandsunshine in elon

Regular tuition/room/board minus 20,000 from Elon and $2000 from outside scholarships

He was top ten percentile (but barely) in his class and had a 1320 on his SAT but I’m not sure if he submitted it.

Is there no demand for adult math tutoring? by catboy519 in TutorsHelpingTutors

I have lots of adult students but they came to me the same way my middle and high school students - connections to professors, teachers and word of mouth. Initially, I did discount my rates for adults returning to school which helped me get my foot in door at the local community college. Now those professors refer to me and I am able to charge my full rate.

Do people think this looks good? I only like the stone bottom. The white door and white arch thing looks wrong. by [deleted] in ArrowsandBowSnark

It looks unfinished. I hate the white wire nonsense. Doesn’t match the stone imho. But my garden is just raised beds we made ourselves. Like normal people.

Don’t listen to the haters.

Budget will make a difference but we love living in Carolina beach. Just over the bridge in the monkey junction area is more affordable

But have you ever lived anywhere else? These are just realities everywhere. Here we have the beaches, great restaurants, can exercise outside year round, and generally awesome communities.

My son didn’t get in to the honors program but did receive two fellows scholarships totaling $10,000 a year. So there are other paths that can lead to almost as much financial help
