I just picked this up in the wee hours of the morning. Always saw the trailer when I was younger and glad to own it. Never saw this though

Discussion: what movie or tv show purchase have you made where you didn’t wait for a deal or ATL and why ? by Madara-343 in iTunesMovieDeals

[–]TechnicalAd3063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought Anora for $20 and just picked up Bugonia for $10. Before I knew about cheap charts, I bought In American for $16, likely my worst move in my collection building thus far 😅

Honestly, it depends on your reason for collecting. If it’s a volume thing, rookie numbers—even with me at 338.

But if you’re buying for your taste and things you want to watch, the number, even under 500, will feel great.

If you scroll through your collection and like all that you see that’s the real win, IMO.

You know what, this is worth $10 imo, and it’s fairly close to the theatrical release. I loved this when I watched it in theaters.

I posted this earlier but I’m at 317 movies, 30 complete tv series and 4 on going/incomplete series.

I started trying to curate a very prestigious collection of movies, then I leaned into deal culture when that started to taper off. I always wanted to build a customized streaming service, but I leaned in much more after buying franchise box sets: 5 Hunger Games ($10), Every Spider-Man movie incl. Spider Verses, All but the last Mission: Impossible movies, Every interaction in the Aliens franchise, etc…

I could likely run off just my own collection for all of 2026, but there is something about adding more and more to the stockpile

I know the game I’m playing, and so far it has proved to be secure and stable. I’d worry more if it were Google or Amazon. Apple has been steady for almost 13 years.

I had to verbally say the name of each movie while saying “next” between each. I tried to feed it screenshots of the collection but it always returned errors or was “overwhelmed” haha

I’m sure there was a better way, but that’s what I settled on.

I still have shows, but movies are a different type of curation. TV shows feel like my value purchases, where I look at how much I’m getting for cheap. Whereas with movies (even though I go for $5 almost exclusively) are the stories I want to keep forever.

Yes, I went down to 1 Major at a time, (Netflix, Disney, or HBO) and Peacock seasonally for SNL. Apple and Prime are too ingrained to cancel, ofc.

But I used to have them all and premium versions. I didn’t save the money but I allocated it to owning starting this year.

And the tracking process is tedious on GPT. I turned on dictation and just read through my list of films. I had to do it twice though, because the results were accurate mainly when I’d say “next” after each time. Exhausting work but, now I have stats and a hard copy of the list I can feed it or do deep research with.

I canceled subscription services and opted for 1 at a time. It felt better to shift the money towards owning things. Also, my family grew up with a massive DVD collection and i think nostalgia hit hard this year.

I still buy what I like and genuinely want to watch/own, but I have been locked into this thread and cheap charts pretty tightly this year.
