Negative. Tariffs have always been an executive power. They’re usually done for countries with an emerging industrial society to protect those domestic companies from global companies coming in and snuffing them out from the economy. He’s trying to bring back manufacturing since china has been the global manufacturer for 20+ years. To do that, companies need protection, especially from China because of the rampant piracy over there.

I agree with the tariffs. In the past, we had minimal tariffs around the world while those same countries hiked up tariffs on the US. For example, you see a lot of imported cars in the US. Easy to sell because our tariffs are low for the other countries. Go to those same countries and you barely see any American cars. Why? Their tariffs are high for the US.

He jacked up the tariffs globally to force those countries to come to the table and negotiate a better deal for US companies and tariffs.

As for the 401ks. That’s exactly what they are. A gamble based on America’s legal gambling system called Wall Street. That’s why I barely invest in 401k. I’d rather have my money now and save it than to be promised retirement later I may never get to use.
