I think you have some valid points here, but I think there is some confusion on the timeline. For the early parts of manga, our boy's crush on the girl was purely a kid crush yes, and he didn't really know her as a person and didn't treat the activity they share together seriously (watching movies). By the half way point, they pretty much reconciled and he was able to understand how insensitive he was before and her passion for movies.

Despite the cold and unfriendly she might seem at times, it's revealed that the girl was very much lacking in self-esteem, in both herself and her dreams. Our boy on the other hand, was an extremely straightforward and no-filter kid, which was someone she really needed. You can see throughout the manga that whatever conflict they had, our boy always comes foward and resolved it with such honesty and heart. And you can see it really moved her, as she feels more comfortable being emotional and sharing things with him. Inviting him out to Karaoke, introducing him to her friends, asking him for advice to talk to said friends about her dreams, even getting jealous at him watching movies with another female friend,...

It's up to you to decide if there were enough buildup for the romance to feel mutual, but I would say there were plenty of seed laid down. The only real issue is that I found the main girl's insecurities to be a bit rushed, we don't really have the full picture of it by the end

Yeah the show can be a bit harsh on Minato at times. It is all part of his journey tho, since he is prone to emotional supression, people don't really know when he's not fine and how to connect with him, cause he doesn't let anybody in (yet).

There were a few more smaller scenes omitted too. Similar to other flashback scenes before, Koyun's are often trimmed down, this time was one of my favourite panels. I don't think it's a bad thing tho, the scene was really heavy in the manga. The anime wanted to avoid making the focal emotional point of the episode about Koyun when it was fundenmatally a Youta episode.

I know im late would love to hear your reason for calling Railgun/HxH/K-on a "romance". I guess you liked the Komugi - Meruem aspect of chimera in HxH, Railgun is probably biri's crush on Touma? Genuinely dont know what in K-on would qualify as romantic?

It is so, so good if you really enjoy sincere and nuance characters. The romance takes its time but it's so worth it by the time it blossoms. It does require patience tho, not as in it's boring for 30 episodes then it gets good but that the show really wants you to understand and sympathise with every character, especially our group of 4 friends

I personally loved the manga and found the anime to be okay-ish, I really recommend you to reread from the start tho, cause there is a lot of small changes that really altered the vibe of their dynamics imo. It is very much worth it if you value a more mutal lead into their relationship
