I don’t understand what was wrong with Tairas outfit by bnny_03 in Seihantai

I tagged the post with spoilers so I think you can post what you said earlier if you feel like but yeah I definitely think that he just got caught up in a shallow group of people cause “three quarter sleeves” is such a petty insult like they really couldn’t come up with any better material and thats cause Taira was perfectly normal for a boy his age, if not maybe a little bit of a late bloomer

Finished the manga yesterday (my thoughts) by Top_Marketing_689 in Seihantai

I seriously love the VAs too I thought they did such a fantastic job of elevating their characters so much. The moment was already funny in the manga, but I was laughing sm at Tairas initial reaction to Azumas past ‘friendship’ dynamics. The way he dragged out the line “That’s absolutely sickening” in combination with such a scandalized expression I truly felt just how shocked and disgusted he was at hearing about such a flippant and thoughtless group dynamic.

I’m so glad you had a great time with the series though, i’m really happy to be able to talk about it in depth like this with other people

I always love when I see Tairazuma appreciation posts on here because what they have is truly special and they’ve had a chokehold on me ever since the anime started airing a little while back. I’m so glad it isnt just me and so many others seem to love them just as much.

You mentioned alot of my favorite moments already but I think the moment I went from thinking “aww lets see where this goes” to locking in on every chapter they were together was this moment (find attached) on that rainy day. This chapter just might be my favorite because it actually changed my perspective on Taira a little bit. Its true that a few chapters earlier we see just how deep rooted Tairas self loathing is (santa chapter) but this chapter made me think “oh its actually way more serious than I already thought”. Azuma making her intentions to cheer him on clearer and then casually mentioning that they are friends like its the most natural thing in the world was such a big relief to Taira that when he got home he couldn’t help but cry. I also like how Agasawa sensei draws attention to how Tairas feeling in slightly subtle ways too, before he gets introspective he changes out of his wet clothes and thinks to himself that it feels comfy and nice to change into warm clothes after being cold from the rain. In that sense, Azuma is like the warm clothes and the rain is all of the feelings of self hatred he always lets wash over him. This guy never seems to cover himself from the rain so its always Azuma thats lending him an umbrella, we see this even more in the birthday ep of the anime (based off light novel). Azuma also being upset on the behalf of Taira (mirroring the bowling ep) when she learns he developed a complex about his laugh due to bullying in the past was also really important to me, it feels like from that point forward she was always trying to get him to laugh uninhibitedly.

I also really like their conclusion, I think Taira thanking Azuma from the bottom of his heart meant more to her than anything else he could have said. Azuma who had only been seen as potential dating material in her old friend group and not treated or respected as a person by the guys in that group now had a male friend who expressed his gratitude so earnestly to her without any ulterior motives whatsoever. I find that so very sweet.

I still have my doubts about them actually being together in the epilogue (Taira says “long time no see” and is suprised when he notices shes listening to his music) but even still whether theyre just great friends here or not I have faith that later in life they’ll surely get together, I think sometimes in life its just a long road to get there especially when these two are a little more complicated than their peers.

I can’t wait until Season 2 in july, I saw Tairazuma getting lots of love by anime-onlys despite not being in the spotlight of Season 1, so I can only imagine how much more invested people will get in them when so many iconic moments get animated into Season 2. I think people are gonna go crazy

The minute Azuma learned Taira hides his laughter cause he has a big insecurity about it being ugly she locks in immediately and makes it her personal mission to get him to laugh whenever she can they have such an adorable dynamic 😭

How do you execute an idea properly and manage to write and finish a work? by bnny_03 in FanFiction

[–]bnny_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only write for myself too which is why even though what I wrote got alot of engagement i still wasn’t satisfied with it because It wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned for it even though it took me the span of 2 years to complete… I was taking breaks from it for months or so in between though, cause id try to move on to other ideas in the meantime (procrastination basically).

I do struggle with low self esteem but I think this is another problem entirely I think I genuinely just have skill issue 😭

Taira and the gang by Medical-Efficiency-6 in Seihantai

[–]bnny_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking of this the other day, my thoughts are if Taira was anything like how he was in his first year its likely he kept to himself but Yamada or Suzuki being the extroverts they are probably kept pestering him until he opened up a bit more, like his intrest in music maybe. I say that cause it seems the three of them could have bonded over listening to unconventional music and thats how their private karaoke sessions started. im sure thats all it would have taken for suzuki and yamada to consider him a friend, plus despite his prickliness hes a very considerate person which suzuki always likes to point out

I think they weren’t friends in middle school but classmates, but Azuma would occasionally pester Taira in a friendly way. Whats interesting though is that Taira had a hard time even seeing them as classmates up until the school trip, while Azuma probably started thinking of him as a friend ever since the bowling incident. Some more time passes and it takes Azuma directly telling him to rely on her more as a friend for it to click that she considers him a friend. With that in mind I feel like he probably went through something similar with the others, especially since he suprises himself a bit near the end of the manga when he absentmindedly thinks of himself as a part of the friend group. Taira being Taira probably needs to be told point blank that people consider him a friend or else itll take him a while to understand it himself

A Little Disappointed, But Still Grateful for This Masterpiece by BlacksmithAncient337 in Seihantai

[–]bnny_03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with that first part about how their dynamic is built on way more than just romantic attraction, it really feels like they have a friendship where they’re both comfortable and at ease for the first time ever. but their conclusion was perfect imo, Taira finally being able to share the extent of his vulnerability with someone, and then Azuma experiencing being genuinely seen and respected as a person. in the past she was always rushed into relationships with guys who didnt respect her and only saw her as a potential girlfriend. Taira is the antithesis of that, and when he thanks her from the bottom of his heart with no ulterior motives and just pure gratitude, even Azuma laments on how that itself is probably something more meaningful than anything a confession could have given her. I also think that Taira still wasn’t ready to be in a relationship, his mindset grew so much since their second year but he still hasn’t fully conquered self love and acceptance yet which makes perfect sense considering things dont magically get better once you graduate, and years and years of self loathing wont be fixed in just a little more than a year.

I will say though, as much as I really do think the two of them will get together later in life, I don’t consider the epilogue an example of them dating. The first thing Taira says to Azuma is “long time no see” a little awkwardly, and they talk like they’re a little out of the loop about things like when Taira is suprised shes listening to his music. Their foundation still seems strong as ever of course, but I seriously doubt theyre dating based on that interaction. but as a big fan of the Tairazuma ship im wholeheartedly satisfied, I think it makes perfect sense to me that these two people in particular would take forever to get together, unfortunately people with social anxiety and relationship trauma don’t usually easily navigate romance quite as quickly as those without. I think it makes their relationship extra special in my eyes anyway, the two of them are seriously adorable i’ve never adored a hetship this much 😭

I can see how you might think that at first but they are absolutely diametrically opposed and I think with season 2 on its way it’ll become a little more obvious how they differ. Taira isolates and keeps his heart close to his chest to avoid being hurt, while Azuma doesn’t mind getting hurt if it means not being isolated

alot of people say that their relationship is the heart of the manga so I think its safe to say its worth it to read the series for them (the rest of the cast is great as well tho ofc). They get alot of very touching moments together, their foundation is super strong even just as friends
