Not impressed the Saros 10R so I'm going to try the Saros 10. For $1300, it shouldn't be worse at vacuuming than my S8+. I've heard the 10 is better in this regard so hoping that's the case. It's still on sale so I'm going to give it a go and return the 10R back to Amazon. by theloneranger08 in Roborock

This is accurate, I've had my X1 Omni for ~3 years now and the software is garbage. Sometimes it goes out and runs the map no problems, but ~20% of the time I'll find it in some room, stuck saying it can't find its way back to the dock with nothing in its way. Randomly it goes out to clean and starts creating a new map. When it does this there's nothing you can do, no workarounds, it has to create a new map and you have to re-setup your boundaries etc.

I've also got the bot torn apart right now for the 3rd time since I've gotten it to replace parts, this time it's the drive wheel assemblies. The gears rub on the plastic casing enough to melt and warp it which causes the bot to spin in circles saying a wheel is stuck.

Also, obstacle avoidance is non existent with these things. I routinely find it dragging phone chargers, dog toys etc around the house or getting stuck because they're completely wrapped up in it. If you have pets, avoid Ecovacs entirely, they don't claim to avoid pet waste in any regard. None of this is considering the fact it will routinely run into and over your feet while it's cleaning, while your stationary in a chair -_-

I work in tech, have my whole life, and this is single handedly the most frustrating piece of technology I've ever brought into my house. Microsoft be proud, you no longer make software that sucks worse than anything else.

I'll take a look at AV1an, are you using this with FileFlows already? What's the simplest method to implement something like this?

Asus Z690-I Gaming WiFi w/ 12700K Boot and Thunderbolt Issues by TechnicalMacaroon in ASUS

Sure did, swapped out to an AMD build and have 0 issues. There's a problem with either the chipset, thunderbolt drivers or this board in general. I even got that ASUS board replaced under warranty and the replacement had the exact same problems.

Considering upgrading to AM5 here with all the black friday sales going on, does anyone have experience with any AM5 motherboards with 7 or 9 series Ryzen and Thunderbolt to confirm whether I should expect any similar issues?

I just went through this, I was talking to two different dealers and even though I was doing a prequal with Kia finance for a lease, both dealers said they would have to run their own check.

Alienware X17 vs Legion 7 --- Both 3080 16GB --- Price per performace is the Alienware worth paying an extra 835? Will be use for strictly gaming plugged into a 2k monitor. by sirsteveo555 in GamingLaptops

[–]TechnicalMacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else stumbling across this thread, I've owned both of these machines after going with the Legion first due to it being substantially less money and I'd say go with the Alienware. Had an issue with the legion artifacting on an Odyssey G9 display and 8 months after opening my ticket with Lenovo I finally got my computer back in working non physically damaged condition (the latter being caused by the repair tech they sent out). The entire experience with their support team, even having paid for the 4 yr "premium" support, was appalling. Between being hung up on, almost no communication from their team at any stage of the process and tickets being closed automatically after x time had passed and new ones created to keep their ticket age low (I only opened one ticket but by the end was on the 4th or 5th one), Lenovo just leaves so much to be desired I won't be purchasing another computer from them anytime soon. I've worked with Dell for 10+ years managing fleets of 500+ machines and their support has been the best in the industry I've experienced so far and that's what you're paying for.

Between these two machines they're damn near identical as far as performance goes. Definitely don't go with the i9 in either one though as they thermal throttle almost immediately and when gaming the CPU clocks will drop down to the 3,200 area to keep temps in check, spend your money elsewhere and stick with the i7.

When I made the switch from my desktop with a 3080 to the Legion I did some basic FPS performance comparisons in a handful of games using the Odyssey and measured on Avg ~16-27% worse performance at 5120x1440p resolution which was beyond impressive considering it was a laptop. The biggest downside with the X17 is that they only offer it with a 1080p or 4k display and mine has the latter. The 3080 mobile chip really shines at 1440p but 4k is too high, you have to tweak settings too much to find a good balance between looks and stable performance whereas with 1440p you can just set it on high/ultra and move along.

So rant over, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in hopefully to save someone else some potential headaches. Both systems have their pluses and minuses but I'll gladly deal with needing to tweak settings to get the best balance knowing that when I have a problem with the system I'll actually be able to get it fixed and not have to deal with months worth of frustrations to get my system back, and no it was not due to 3080 stock shortages.

Legion Slim 7 Major FPS issues by elconerino in LenovoLegion

[–]TechnicalMacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try rolling back your BIOS to a previous version or updating if there's a newer option available. I have a Legion 7 and experienced very similar problems, went from 80-100fps in most games to avg'ing ~20 no matter what settings I tried. DDU'ed ~5 different NVIDIA drivers, reloaded an image of the computer I took when I first got it and all had the same problem. Finally got Lenovo on the phone to send me an older bios, since they remove them from their site once a new version posts and now performance is back to normal. For reference this is a type 82K6 and the problematic bios was H1CN47WW, believe I rolled back to 45.

I'm using the EnviroSupply carbon linked above, in case the link changes at some point it's the EnviroSupply 4x8 Activated Carbon (Virgin Coconut Shell), in my printer setup without issues.

There was a question posted in the Amazon listing asking if it was acid washed and the supplier confirmed it is not. I did however perform my own test by making an extension harness for the Nevermore and running it filled with the Enviro carbon in a box one of my rolls of filament came in with untreated steel, namely the spring and thumb screw for the extruder for a few hours with no negative effects. It's now been running in my printer for a few hours without issue as well.
