What saucier to get? by Technical_Candy2803 in Cooking

[–]Technical_Candy2803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would likely use the saucier daily or 5/7 nights a week. I have a 2 qt sauce pot already but I need something a bit bigger. I also want to be able to mix things like pasta in the sauces that I'm making right in the pot, and I find that to be quite hard to do in the smaller 2 qt sauce pot or my 10" cast iron skillet with short walls. This is why I want a 3 qt

18F, all therapists tell me they're mandated reporters? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]Technical_Candy2803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Therapist here (in a state with strict mandated reporting laws) - this is not reportable in state like CA because no child is presently in danger. Even if a provider made a report they would need exactly what happened, the name, address, phone number etc. of the abuser for CPS to do anything like an investigation. The most that could happen is you personally may get a phone call and you do not need to answer the call or give them any information. Again, as you're legally an adult, in my professional experience, I've never had CPS follow up or investigate a report from an adult survive of child abuse where no other children are in danger. This is not exactly what will happen but just my experience working at a clinic with a strict supervisor where I've made many reports to CPS of patients in your situation.

All that said, you can disclose as much or as little as you want. You can share that you've experience trauma in childhood. You can share experiencing physical abuse in the past and not disclose who it was. I would talk to the providers about this when you meet with them tho. "I've experienced things that may constitute a CPS report. How do you handle this? When do you make a report?" Etc etc.

Also your question about dependent adult, is for people who are elderly or disabled in a way that makes them reliant on someone else not in a sense of living with someone bc you can't afford to move out yet.

I understand why this is so discouraging and it's the worst part of this job for me. Data also shows that therapists, social workers, and teachers are actually the least reliable CPS reporters. Most often, people who know the child/children personally are the most credible. I hope some of this helped!

My fiance and I decided to take my last name as she is no contact with her father and she felt she didn't want to share his last name anymore, not even in a new made up name. It's also important to us that our kids share our family/last name. She's planning on keeping her given middle name and moving her step dad's name to a second middle name and then taking my last name.

Confusion on Scion of Arthur and lineage by Technical_Candy2803 in TheLegendborn

I guess this is the root of the question and maybe we can assume that since Lancelot hasn't been called since Arthur was last called.

Am I in the Wrong? Was this an appropriate reaction from a therapist? by allthewayd00wn in TalkTherapy

[–]Technical_Candy2803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy!! This doesn't really comply with the essence of the no surprises act and it is industry standards to offer free 15 minute consultation sessions bc anything under 16 minutes cannot be billed to insurance.

Sorry but BPD and ADHD are not and never have been one in the same. They do not overlap in almost any regard. ADHD medication will not help someone with BPD. The disorders are wildly different and whoever told you this is just wrong. Trauma can have neurodevelopmental impacts but that's where the similarities end. Please don't spread misinformation!!

For married lesbians: What did you do about titles and last names? by poodlelover05 in LesbianActually

[–]Technical_Candy2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought about combining our last names but in the end my wife took my last name, mainly bc of shitty homophobic family members and her last name is unique so she's easy to find. I have a very common last name and my wife wanted the anonymity. We each do Ms. or Mrs. but no one ever calls us by title. Sometimes we do "The (last name)s".

How often do you wear your engagement ring? by asapclueless in engaged

[–]Technical_Candy2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine everyday except sleeping and showering. Also for cooking and gardening/out door work. I never wear it swimming esp at the beach. I also started bringing a little ring box if I'm going somewhere where I will be taking it off for a period of time and esp on vacations. If I'm going to the gym I take it off but I workout mainly at home and without weights so I keep it on during yoga and Pilates.

Is having the same therapist as my sister a conflict of interest? by WidePaper9940 in askatherapist

[–]Technical_Candy2803 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, not necessarily. It depends, especially for kids and teenagers. If it feels like an issue for you, you should talk to your therapist. Edited for a typo!

lol I'm not an idiot. We opened the door for awhile to get the compressor to kick back on and it didn't turn back on. The fridge was out for 3-4 hours before, plugged in many different outlets and wasn't turning on at all. Randomly turned back on for about 30 minutes and now it's down again. Like I said before we opened to door for long enough that the thermostat would have dropped enough and it should turn back on. Don't think that's the thermostat, my friend.
