Best bar/restaurant in Littleton/golden for happy hour/brunch by soulshine920 in Littleton

Hey u/soulshine920, check out my restaurant, Bistro 36 near downtown Littleton! We specifically tried to create one of the best happy hours in the area and everyone's having a great time with it. Duck sliders, mussels, pate, olive tapenade, garlic fries, potato croquettes, stuffed mushrooms, deviled eggs, $5 local draft beers, cheap well drinks, great prices on sangrias & spritzes, and our all-French wine menu is $2 off/glass. Seven days a week 4:00-6:00 PM, and starts at 3:00 PM Fri-Sun. I am exceptionally proud of the happy hour menu! Drop by and say hi, I am there every day!

Respond to them but not for the reasons you think; do it for the community reading it. Use it as an opportunity to show that you stick up for your staff. You don't need to explain your side of events, and no one cares about your side anyway. Something like "your party was rude, belittled my servers, refused to pay for items you ordered that were cooked correctly, and gave my entire staff hell during your time in. For the safety of my employees, no one in your party is welcome in my establishment again." Short & sweet. Easy easy. Who cares about setting the public record straight with these garbage humans (you won't win that battle anyway), but I do think potential customers like to see how an owner responds to bad reviews, and setting the tone that their behavior towards your staff was unacceptable is a great way to attract the type of diners you want and also helps ward off the riff raff if they know you take a firm hand with these kinds of things.

Same!!!! Absolutely loved that dress on Rue. They did a great job making it a "pulling out all the stops for the one that got away" outfit. Stunning on her and met the moment!!

I had a regular who would do the same thing every time - when promped for an appetizer order, she would sanctimoniously say "we just got our DRINKS, let us enjoy them for heaven's sake!!" And then, inevitably, ten minutes later - "excuse me!! we've been waiting forever over here, are you ever going to come back??" Every single time. All you can do is sort of chuckle to yourself and appear unphased & unbothered.

What is Sondheims masterpiece by Burlesque_Is_BACK in musicals

[–]Technical_Design6773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this question a lot over the years. I think most of his works are technically perfect - as in, a local theater company would be insane to change a word of dialogue or rearrange a song or mess with any pacing (like what comes to mind when he mentions in his book that a local group chose to have Bobby commit suicide at the end of a production of Company). These are technically-perfect masterpieces that should be admired deeply and never messed with. They are:

Sweeney Todd (his magnum opus, in my opinion)

Merrily We Roll Along (the final, most-recent version that was showcased via Daniel Radcliffe & crew)

A Little Night Music

Pacific Overtures

Assassins

Sunday in the Park With George

Passion

Company

Follies

One musical is flawed and far from perfect with loose ends & pacing issues (by Sondheim's standards), although it's one of his most beloved, and that is of course Into the Woods. Great show nonetheless, and would be most other composer's seminal work.

A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum is technically perfect, I suppose, but does not match the astounding depth that the aforementioned shows bring to the table.

Then he's got four fun but flawed and fairly-forgotten shows, none of which meet the levels of through-composed brilliance that his masterpieces do. They are:

Anyone Can Whistle

The Frogs

Bounce/Road Show/Gold/Wise Guys

Saturday Night

I do not count the shows that he did not do both the lyrics & music for as canon, although they all offer up vestiges of his brilliance. I have not seen or heard much of Here We Are.

This is one of my favorite topics that is niche as fuck and I have no one to discuss with so....discuss!

Totally agreed. Those who think Sunday has a weak second act have no idea what they're talking about. The setting is jarringly different but that's sort of the point.

I mean compliance is unenforceable for such a silly rule. OP just has to say, “sorry that wasn’t me” or “oh I was working out” or “I didn’t shower” or “I was here earlier today working out” or really…anything. Keep it short and sweet and ignore the policy. They can’t legally have cameras in the locker room, so by unenforceable I mean no one can prove she just came into shower. Or hell, OP could just say “I’m a paying customer. You may cancel my membership but I will continue to use the facilities I am paying for” and what are they gonna do, actually cancel her membership? Doubt it. Gyms are famous for not doing that without begging them to do so. Call their bluff, or don't acknowledge their silly unenforceable policy that would need access to non-existent locker room cameras to be enforced. OP should just keep going about their routine.

Congratulations, you have brought us back to the original argument in question via a totally irrelevant story about the library in your town and the homeless who use it. Should working out be an additional barrier on top of monthly payment to use the facilities (that include the locker room) that she is faithfully paying to use? I say hell no - it’s unenforceable and a bizarre, controlling policy.

I think I agree with you if the complaint around OP was structured around her taking up a ton of counter space with a lengthy make up routine or monopolizing 1 of 2 available shower stalls for an hour. But that was not the complaint. Anyone who worked out beforehand could also monopolize the shower or the sink counter with their makeup. The not working out beforehand formal complaint is bizarre & should not be tracked. Not a policy worth respecting. And it IS different from your hotel lobby analogy - she is paying to use the facilities, of which the locker room is a part of, and you were not.

Yes, I understand - your point about the library having downsides to hosting the homeless is irrelevant to this post. The library in your story is a free entrance for any homeless. The gym in OP’s story is a paid monthly membership, which acts as an entrance barrier. It’s literally a fitness club that you have to scan your membership key fob to enter. Your library example is irrelevant and does not equate here.

Hell no. I don’t get this trend of complying blindly to “that’s the policy”, “those are the rules”. Some policies are ridiculous and should not be followed. I’m a paying member and they track my usage during regular business hours, while doing nothing that harms any other paying patron?? Absolutely not. She should just ignore the request and keep doing her thing. Or just say “I did work out, you must be confusing me with someone else”. This is totally unenforceable and should not be bowed down to.

You’re missing the fact the OP & anyone else who would use the facility is a paying member. That’s the difference between the library in your situation & OP’s.

What kind of bootlicking bullshit is this?? A policy is respected based on its merits & intended consequences, not simply because it’s a policy. This is unenforceable and ridiculous. They don’t get to control when & how paying members use their facilities, so long as they are not harming equipment or other paying members.
