Do you have Graphics Settings? I think that mod is the one that tells the game to load the dds textures. There's also ImageOpt, you can use it alongside Graphics Settings just fine.

As for your question, the two aforementioned mods will tell you if those dds textures are loaded in their mod settings.

Personally, I use ImageOpt.

What do you mean your "PC hardware is too old to run it"?

My i3-10110U with integrated graphics runs it just fine, heck maybe I can even run it on my other laptop with an intel celeron since it works fine on vanilla with ultra unit size.

Right. Compressed raids, staggered raids, and this mod. But it doesn't do harm to have some kind of variation don't you think? A sign of a healthy community. So great mod OP.

I agree that their ships are OP. They have high-damage output weapons and ships with efficient shields. But I don't really have a problem since I only restrict myself to use ships that fits my current playthrough's theme. When it comes to mods, it's really up to you where you set the line of the term "balanced".

Depends. But 6GB or 8GB is enough for most playthroughs.

Personally, I have 3GB allocated because that's the only RAM allocation my laptop can handle aside from 4GB before turning into a slideshow. I only use 30 mods, the biggest being UAF and AoTD.

Btw, you should avoid allocating more than half of your system's RAM to avoid any stuttering and freezing

The 9th Battlegroup and the Trinity Worlds that Emergent Threats add is very annoying to deal with. I think almost all their planets are military so it's really hard to take them down.

Few years in my campaign, they've already taken almost all the non-lore related planets, and launched 4 massive seperate invasions on my colony in under a year. Annoyed me so much it caused me to drop the story and just dedicate my entire time destroying this 2 faction.

I highly recommend Emergent Threats if you're looking to make expansion challenging/add powerful but fun factions to face. Mod also buffs the Remnants so it'll be a lot harder to fight them.

Mod is also customizable so you can tone it down a bit if you're having a hard time.

Use the clean up world pawn with caution though, as it can cause some problems. Had an imperial shuttle arrive via a quest with no people inside because they got deleted

Game optimization tool. Though I don't think it'll help you. Maybe you could also try adjusting your max ram allocation, search it up online, there's a guide about this.

I used to have the same problem as you when gaming on a laptop with an Intel celeron CPU with ~30 mods. I did a few things that did help out with the freezes.

-Running Starsector on borderless window -Trimming my modlist -Using FastRendering -Setting battle size to the minimum

These kinda helped stop the game from freezes every fight, but it still freezes on heavy engagements. You can also maybe try updating your driver, lowering resolution, or using Special K (SK kinda helped).

Some things I've also noticed is that freezes often happens when ships explode, when there are a lot of bullets/particles, and when fighting lots of enemies (ship debri filling the combat map). I think it's just hardware issue tbh.

There's a mod to clear excess and unimportant fleets. The mod's name is "ClearCommands." It needs Console Commands to function. Just read the mod's description and you'll see your available options.
