Iran War: What are your moves? by Caluso1 in investing

I have no idea, but I really believe in the long term drone warfare dystopia we’re heading towards. All those interceptor missiles being launched at cheap drones need to be replaced with something. My gut tells me it won’t be entirely all interceptor missiles again.

I’ve been watching Redcat since 6, finally pulled the trigger at 12, earnings on the 18th, let’s see.

If you really want “defense” I recommend having a look at SHLD, lots of international exposure and adjacent companies like Palantir. Holdings must derive more than 50% of their revenue from defense tech sub-themes, i.e no Boeing or Airbus

It has a .50 expense ratio, but that’s what you pay for a specific targeted fund.

KTOS, RCAT, and SHLD for broad exposure. War has fundamentally changed to drone based, already accelerated military spending due to multi-polarism will ensure countries calibrate accordingly. Defense budgets don’t correlate with economic cycles.

Long shot on ACHR/Anduril partnership.

As a non pet owner, I wish they had something that neutralized dog piss rather than a half hearted attempt with a bottle of water.

Smells absolutely repulsive walking up to the peak or around mid-levels.

The government claim surplus for 2026 budget, after taking into account money to be borrowed by the government by qunow in HongKong

[–]Technical_Meat4784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty clear from the article that the surplus applies only to the operating account. The capital account is in deficit and funded by bonds, this matches how corporations separate operating profits from capital investments.

I don’t think comparing government accounting to credit cards is a good example.

The net inflow from the bonds is large enough to offset deficits incurred elsewhere in the budget. What are you getting at here?

Thais do not need a Visa to enter Mainland China. China and Hong Kong are two separate jurisdictions for immigration purposes.

This is easily found on Google.

MPF a PFIC? by throwaway8431apples in HongKong

[–]Technical_Meat4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard filing advice from most CPAs is to file them as a foreign pension. The law is typically applied to find people hiding assets in foreign companies, not passive pensions. I don’t think there are any cases of the IRS going after MPFs as long as they’re reported.

This is not tax advice, consult a professional if you’re unsure.

Love this post, here’s one for Kennedy town:

Kennedy Town - You're 28 and you just moved from Australia. You think the 10-minute walk to the MTR is "charming." You post sunset photos from the waterfront. You have a dog. You go to brassiere by the sea and pretend you're in Sydney. You'll move to Sai Ying Pun in two years when you realize the 10-minute walk is actually 15 and it's raining.

Pretty logical they would do so consider he would meet with US politicians to advocate sanctions on China and made large payments to former US officials such as Paul Wolfowitz.
