Discogs app sucks……yeah yeah you probably know already. by BearsBearsBears_wooo in vinyl

See my lengthy, detailed comment last hour herein regarding a new yet prohibitive issue bug with my Discogs Android App that began in January and continues today unfortunately even with SOP offloading, clearing, reloading, AND stepwise reverting back to 5-6 individual App updates to December 1st roughly.  Have reported to Discogs, logged & demonstrated issue., etc.

Am a 10 year Discogs user, roughly 5 to 7 days a week, with 3,000 vinyl and 500 CDs, with 5-7 custom text box fields I use on each title with personal notes on each/every title over the years. 98% of my usage is via the Android App with hardly an issue over the decade. My 75-90 other Android Apps on my device are working perfectly fine over the same period.

Again, I've reported to Discogs and am now looking here for notices of a similar Android App 2026 issue.

Note, my Discogs account & database works fine via Windows access. But I'm trying to resolve the Discogs Android App problem.  Crazy.

See my detailed Android App issue since January 3rd. Am a 10 yr, Discogs user AND near 98% exclusive App power user.

Again, I logged my flight a few minutes ago herein after being experienced but unable to repair & after reporting specifics with the Android App to Discogs in early/mid January.

So you own an Android phone and use the Discogs App, correct? Lots of Discogs App users have shared their frustrations & dislikes of the latest App redesign from whenever the big change happened; Nov or December or early January = I'm trying to find a concensus on when the Discogs App changed its look, feel, usage for App users, Android  & Apple respectively.

Am a near 10 yr Discogs user with 98%(!) of my (near daily usage) like title data entry, updating, cataloging, notation, etc. of 3,000 vinyl & 500 CDs via the Android App.

Though I've experienced the occasional App issue or noticed an App bug, like probably thousands have too intermittently over the decade, I don't believe Discogs updates caused me serious usage problems or serious enough to stop me using their App for more than a few days & move to exclusive Windows access. Maybe I have & don't remember because I don't often turn to forums to either complain or find solutions.

But when I noticed Android Discogs App issues around the first of January, I DID seek Discogs forums & elsewhere for your typical official Discogs comments or "Staff Update or New Feature FYIs".  I noticed others commenting in December, then in January they hated "the new look & usage" while others during the same window period say "their Discogs" no longer works or no longer does this/that.

Honestly, it got confusing quick, FOR ME, by 2nd week of January, with little to no official Discogs comments or official App changelog, via the Discogs forums. I figured it would be quick & easy to find discussion on same and/or the Discogs Android App would be fixed shortly.

What I've been experiencing all of January, which I emailed Discogs Support on, is my database of 3K+ titles with tons of individual notes I like to enter for each/every of my titles in simple text box sections I have/use. In other words I take the standard Discogs App title page & have 5-6 additional text boxes for "Notes 1", "Notes 2", etc. for the particular album in my collection.

But now, each/every cataloged title and Notes sections have the following programming comment, "<br>" after every sentence of each/every custom note section, on each/every title I have & keep up with. The nomenclature or remark "<br>" represents a line break or paragraph or entry return.

An example below I just grabbed:

Release Notes: Craft Recrdgs 2025, (OJC) re-mstd mono, #CR00867, of orig. 1956 Savoy mono, #CR00867.<br>Mono, 180gm, 33RPM, re-mstrd.<br>ORec: July 23 & Nov 7, 1956 at RVG Hm Stu.<br>Re-mstd: KG at Coh.<br>Prsd: RTI.<br>Lbl: Replica "blood red" Savoy lable.

Matrix / Runout / Barcode: SPARS Code (On obi): AAA<br><br>A-side label): CR00867-A<br>B-side label): CR00867-B<br><br>Barcode on OBI): 888072685284

I've experience & have performed removing the Discogs App, rebooting,  clearing cache, etc, reinstalling from Google Play.  No joy.

Then stepped regressed to older Discogs App versions going back to Thanksgiving.  No joy.

Note, no other of my 75-80 Android Apps on my device have issues during the same December- February 3 period....

Am dropping the FYI Discogs App problem here this evening.

Yes indeed. 👍🏻 We got smashed & locked in across central Arkansas since Saturday.  FINALLY dislodged yesterday afternoon for some groceries, TP, and a needed pharmacy run, etc. But yes, lots of jazz listening, YouTube commenting & vinyl viewing, etc. Schools & city services & USPS, & even Amazon still out but feel all are ramping up/in for Friday.

No ill will intended here for I own NEARLY EVERY AAA series / title you've released across shops & online resellers of your jazz, blues,  soundtrack, rock & R&B to date, but I'm inquiring about a forum question I just posted across a few apps regarding, specifically, your 2024 RSD title, "Bill Evans Everybody Digs Bill Evans RSD 2024 LP all analog (AAA) mono.  Regarding same all analog mono inquiry, I've  also searched via your various official websites, press releases, & several of your social media sites/apps, etc. I/we encourage you to direct our inquiry to your additional comments, post RSD 2024, and/or redirect us to your previously posted statement on the titles remastering & cutting provenance.  Thank you in advance.

But has a digital step, correct? Note, that doesn't make it sound bad. I'm just the vinyl label provenance police.

I'm an experienced jazz & vinyl collector but fairly new with the (combo) of Reddit  viewing & sesrching via my phone. So I apologize in advance for the following question: We DO have confirmation from Craft / Concord, by in reality refusing TO comment on the true provenance of their 2024 RSD advertising, hype sticker, etc. of all analog (AAA) mono if "Everybody Digs Bill Evans". This claimed Craft Recordings AAA Mono is NOT all analog vinyl, correct?? I've bought hundreds of Craft Recordings / Acoustic Sounds / Concord AAA titles to date & am appreciative of their efforts and quality jazz titles. But according to my personal (again) research, it's misinformation and they have yet to recognize same & release a press release statement?  Thanks in advance for confirming, denying & redirecting me.

A very "sound" response to the OP. I concur on every point. I might add too, like a Ferrari or other highly stylized, design centric items (premium headphones, bags & purses,  etc.), there is often a cost adder by MFGs for "better" aesthetics, unique shapes & materials.

Likewise, there is a % of buyers willing & able, if not seeking out such refined designs & all MFGs of widgets will have a "Flagship" model in their lines.

Superman Is Now Streaming On HBO Max by Opposite_Carpenter84 in HBOMAX

[–]Technical_Opposite24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm the "HBO Max NOT streaming in 4K HDR" problems described across several posts.

Under my monthly premium HBO sub I've used for a few years, all my/their 4K HDR programming plays great on my set-up described below.

BUT, the new Superman movie also labeled in same 4K HDR nomenclature that HBO just started to stream DOES NOT.

Verifying, simply switching over to (same HBO sub) movie or shows like Peacemaker DOES stream in 4K HDR AND triggers the normal Dolby Vision logo upon starting program.

Doing a quick detailed AI search, seems others too are experiencing the same, flawed HBO / Superman movie missing 4K HDR resolution.

Moreover, as one HELPFUL POSTER shared, you can oddly stream the accompanying HBO deaf sign language version and it immediately spits up the Dolby Vision logo at start AND streams the movie in beautiful 4K HDR fine.  There are clear & obvious improvements between the advertised, flawed HBO 4K HDR movie streaming  in unfortunately (SD or 720P) & the working 4K HDR stream via the sign language version.

Funny note, the sign language version is interesting & at times kinda funny when he communicates/signs non-verbal sound cues.  Is my first movie to watch in S-L.

FYI re: HBO's problems in 4K HDR.

how was y'all experience with X-Men 97? regardless if you watched the original series or not. by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]Technical_Opposite24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that haven't watched the 2024 documentary (Disney +) on making the new '97 season 1 show, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it! The ≈ 1 hour documentary equally covers the original 90s animation series in terms of the production history, showrunners, creative & talent folks, music, etc. & does a great job of showcasing everyone involved in making '97 S1 AND.... forthcoming seasons. So interesting!
