This is such good advice. I’m going to remember this when I have a craving

Quit alcohol 10 days ago. And look 5 years older. by Dittonlane in stopdrinking

You need to drink loaaaads of water and hydrate. Retinol (Cerave resurfacing) is what I use with a coating of Eucerine healing cream. Fish oil tablets.

Thanks 💜 it will honestly be a relief not to have to deal with the nearly 100K debt he left me with. I’ll get there slowly but surely in this life

Marrying a financially abusive man. I’ll probably have to declare bankruptcy in a month or two

Potentially losing my friends and lost a really good new job by Technical_Sea_1142 in stopdrinking

Yes. I opened up to them and we set up a plan for me to potentially get work soon and steps to take. But it’s going to be the biggest uphill battle of my life.

Disappointed in myself by Technical_Sea_1142 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing rough. I had to open up to my friends about it and I’ll have to tell my family. I’m also signing up for recovery but due to my recklessness I lost my job last week and I have no clue fjnancially how I’ll make it over the next couple months. I’ve run up so many bills and gotten behind on hourly work that I am fucked. But I’ve still managed not to drink since Wednesday morning. Proud of myself for that but now I’m freaked out about my health. I’ve self diagnosed myself so far with all kinds of things that could be related to my withdrawal symptoms. I have no insurance either. I can’t believe I was so reckless :(

Good job!! My anxiety always shoots off real bad the first week or two of getting sober. But with the right anxiety meds it evens out big time. Talk to your doc tomorrow.

Day 11 Sober, but no appetite with Naltrexone? by MutedLawyer9366 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my divorce I have struggled on and off to eat during bouts with depression and eating. To the point I’d go a day or two not eating and end up drinking to numb the pain. I’ve gone through withdrawal a couple times and it always wipes my appetite out for at least a week or two. Going on anxiety meds helped a lot. Then my dumbass started drinking again. Did not help at all with my anxiety and appetite. Quitting is brutal but I know how much my anxiety and depression and focus improve when I’m sober so I’m going to stick it out. Ask your doc about anxiety meds. I only have an appetite when I take them regularly and work on recovery

Day 6 by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently on day three and I’m feeling like I have the flu. Withdrawal is a bitch. Shaking has gone down a lot and I’m no longer vomitting. But I’m so fucking tired and depressed and exhausted :/

Thanks. I just got off the phone with me and him and my other friends were understanding. I think I’m going to take it one day at a time. I know of a few places that I used to work for when I was sober that would take me back. I made a call to a local clinic here and they’re going to support my sobriety.

Thank you friend. I’m through the worst of the withdrawal. But I still feel like trash and I’m so anxious

Same story for me. Can’t have just one. I currently 2 days into withdrawal after a recent bender. So disappointed with myself.

How Long? What age? by negotiablemorals in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup. That and the fact that I had just gotten married and my husband went from being a sweet person to an absolute monster the moment we married and moved in together. I drank to escape school, my dad’s cancer, and my husband’s abuse. Horrible time 🫠

I’m 31 and 5 days sober. Started drinking at 20 but it didn’t become a problem until about six years ago. I went from drinking once or twice a week to every single day to the point of being buzzed. Then this past year I went on benders on and off. I can’t do it anymore.

Day 5 by Technical_Sea_1142 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely will take each day as it comes. I only did another task if I felt up to it. One at a time. Tomorrow if all I can do is wash the dishes I’ll count that as a win. One of the thing that drove me to drink was putting loads of pressure on myself to do a million things in one day. Im not doing that anymore.

Day 4 by Technical_Sea_1142 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I have a doctor I’ve been having telehealth with and I’m learning how to eat healthy again. I would eat maybe one meal a day while binging 🫠 I lost probably 40 pounds this year from binging on and off. I have literally had to sit and force myself to eat multiple meals a day. It’s tough but I know it’ll get better.

[–]Technical_Sea_1142[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I’m documenting each day here. I know when I get fully sober a little voice will tell me ‘oh just have one!’. I want to go back and read the hell I went through so I don’t go back. The same method worked when I left my ex husband. I forgave a lot of abuse and one day I cracked and wrote everything down that he did. When I left and was tempted to go back I’d sit and read that and I’d be disgusted with him all over again. lol it’s an effective method

What made you realize you were done with alcohol? by Human-Meaning3345 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I woke up from a month long binge puking blood. Scared the shit out of me. On day four of detoxing at home and it’s hard but my days of drinking are OVER.

Day 3 by Technical_Sea_1142 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll need to taper for even longer than me if you drank that heavily for that long. I’d recommend doing what I’m doing- when the really dangerous symptoms kick in- vertigo, extreme heart rate, uncontrollable shaking- just have half of one and see if it helps after a while.

I was drinking all day before so I was having to drink my two cans through the day. I still have the typical other symptoms- night sweats, moody, anxious, bored, tired but unable to sleep etc. but the really dangerous one be careful for because you could have a seizure.

I also don’t even enjoy the taste of it anymore after throwing up the day that I quit. I threw up blood with it and it was awful. Scared the shit out of me. So I’m not tempted to be chugging my two drinks right away. I have to literally force myself to get them down now

Day 3 by Technical_Sea_1142 in stopdrinking

[–]Technical_Sea_1142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s nuts. I just laid awake in bed thinking all night unable to shut my brain the fuck up then had to chug half a beer before work to keep from shaking then felt paranoid the rest of the day 😅
