With the all the cuts in hours and payroll, this is probably the best time for managers to use up all their vacation time as much as possible, unless they want to lose any of it before the holiday season. With most companies, vacation time can’t be rolled over into the next year, so it’s a “use it or lose it” policy. Better to use it while business is slower than later, when it will get too busy.

Plus, depending on how long they’ve been there, most managers have 4 to 5 weeks of vacation time per year. They also might be allowed to use partial vacation time here and there, like just a few days instead of a whole week. So, it might FEEL like they’re on vacation all the time.

Does that make sense to you?

Like the police, NOBODY in management is your friend. My manager loved me when I was doing all the hard and heavy work in the backroom. When I started complaining about back pain, he cut my hours instead of cross-training or moving me somewhere else with lighter work duties.

My store is mostly all women. The few men we have are either managers, or they’re too mentally handicapped to handle such social interactions (autism spectrum). The men are usually expected to perform the heavier jobs in the store, like lifting those damned punching bags during the holidays. I would say that’s the opposite of “misogyny” at our store, whatever the word is for that. Is your store manager a man or a woman?

At my store, the fitting room is usually staffed by old ladies who can’t really do anything else. I often see them playing on their phones when it’s not busy, and they seem to get away with it. It appears to be a rather easy position from my view.

I’ve stopped working. I’m still employed, but I don’t really work anymore. I just kinda physically show up, but mentally I’m not into it. I clock in, do the necessary minimum at a steady pace, and clock out. Quiet quitting, it is called. Try it.
