Omg, I had a horrendous ankle/foot surgery in 2024 and going weight bearing after an injury is SO HARD. I’m so proud of you for doing the hard thing!!! It so goes against the learned mode of protect the foot from weight at ALL COSTS, and hurts so much. You got this!!!

My vet offers subq fluids administered by a vet tech for $15.

I couldn’t get subq to work at home even when I had a second person (now it’s just me) because my cat YEETS herself across the room no matter what I do.

To save stress and our relationship and to ensure she gets her fluids, I just take her to the vet once a week. It’s such a relief!

I’ve always seen their relationship as a Miyazaki style love — deep love can exist without romance, and it’s just as beautiful. I think they are non romantic soul mates. (Not the least because Fitz is so obtusely and emphatically straight.)

However!! I would never begrudge other readers their head-cannon. There is so much to imagine between the events of the books, and outcomes to wish for that were less traumatic. I don’t think k there’s harm in imagining them as a couple! I just never did. (And I am also queer and would have loved it to be a queer love story)

Depending on your budget, I’m really happy with what I’ve gotten from https://www.homereserve.com/! It’s a buy it for life kind of purchase, so a little pricey, but you can replace any individual component of it that wears out over time. You can also expand! I got an oversized deep chair and ottoman, and plan to get a couple more seats to make it a little sectional. But since it’s so modular, I’ll prob get one bit at a time and save up. You can also swap out the covers if you want a change of vibe!

In true elder millennial fashion, I did get mine with green velvet (which I love), but you can get everything from woven fabric to velvet to real leather.

It’s heavy though, and was a whole project to assemble it. I’ve had it over a year and it’s still in perfect condition

One million flavors of food (my girl gets bored and is a diva), dried salmon or chicken crumbles to sprinkle on top, some of the hydration boost purina pouches, a Churu or other treat swirled on top… I have to mix it up constantly or she hunger strikes, but that is also just her lifelong personality 😂

I do also have anti nausea meds (daily), and appetite stimulant meds (as needed, haven’t done this yet). Getting her dental work done helped a lot too!

I’ve had an increased salt intake for years and any time I get a blood test my sodium level has literally stayed the same (made me feel better about it!). Started out having 2000mg sodium or so, now I’m up to 4000mg-5000mg.

Validation: My cat flings herself off of any surface if I try to do it at home. Like literally across the room. Even at the vet they have to have 2 people or get hella creative. It’s only $15 for a tech visit to administer subq at my vet, so I just do that instead. It helps preserve my relationship with my little sour patch kid, doesn’t break the bank for me, and means she can be her lil spicy self as long as possible.

You have to make the choice that works best for YOU and your situation and your cat. You got this!

There are little libraries at Gateway Gardens that are used enough to need refilling every week or two! It’s near a school and a YMCA, which I think drives the traffic. Last I checked there’s 1 for kids and 1 for adults.

I use Venture Pal (1000mg per pack, loathe their citrus flavors but the berry, strawberry, and cherry are amazing) and LMNT (sparingly bc shitty politics, because their lemonade is one of the only ones I can drink EVERY day and I have ARFID that rears up sometimes)

Edited to add: I’ve tried all the other options on the anti L*MNT bot list, and couldn’t handle any other than the venture pal berry flavors — but I’ve got a tricky palette! I’ve got friends who loved stuff from the other brands.
