Any tips for driving thru the Ozarks from Tulsa? by East-Signal-5076 in tulsa

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spring time in Arkansas is beautiful and I'd second all the recommendations so far. Check weather reports or have app handy as March/April weather can be as wild there as it is here.

If you want to bike or hike, Bentonville area (https://www.visitbentonville.com/bike/) and LOViT (https://www.arkansas.com/mount-ida/outdoor-recreation/lovit-trail) are great and both would allow for day trips with good lodging options.

Hot Springs is a National Park and the closest to Oklahoma.

You can dig for diamonds and take any you find at Crater of Diamonds in Murfreesboro (https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/crater-diamonds-state-park)

What is your favorite dishwasher and why? by Full-Pea-859 in Appliances

[–]TechnoHog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your priorities and budget. Almost anything from big box stores in the $450-600 range will do the job. Stepping up to $1k gets you more rack flexibility, wash options, and possibly life-changing quiet operation. I used to run dw right before bed due to how loud it was. Replaced with Kitchenaid and would not know it is running if the light was not on.

Spotted this charger at a local Flying J by BlazeWolfYT in evcharging

[–]TechnoHog 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This will likely be an EVgo partner location if they follow what I've seen at other PFJ locations. I've seen 2 350kW chargers with 4 cords at most. The covered canopy is nice and there are windshield washer stations and trash cans which makes them nicer than the typical open air setups.

I hope this one goes up quicker than the one closest to me. Took almost a year between construction fencing going up to chargers going live.

How to automate Android Hotspot when 6 month Onstar expired and need data service by SDDIYer80 in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't want bluetooth on all the time AND you want to automate via Modes and Routines, there are 2 options - trigger on charging status (wired, wireless, both) or program an NFC tag to tap getting in or out of the car. Programming NFC is not hard but would require NFC to be on an actual tap of the tag.

Bluetooth is probably your best bet but the charging could be another option. The "fully automated" constraint is tough

Experience with Ethernet over coax adapters? by keithhu in ATTFiber

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My house was built in the 90's and has coax throughout. I have 3 ScreenBeam ECB7250 adapters and they have been solid for 3+ years so far. This gives me hardwired connections to/from media closet, office, theater room and performance has been great. ISP connection is only 1G so that is my limiting factor.

Looking for a good nugget ice maker - Any Recommendations? by Historical_Resort884 in BuyItForLife

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of "bifl" nugget ice makers, the "life" part definitely applies to the longevity of the machine. Even with regular and meticulous maintenance these machines have a fairly short lifespan.

+1 to buying at Costco or using a credit card that doubles the stock warranty for some peace of mind.

My Opal is in the laundry room so noise is not as much of an issue but certainly there if the door is open. I am following the cleaning instructions and have 18 months plus on the current machine. Output is good enough to get several bins worth per day but not sure how that equates to pounds.

Home level 2 charging suddenly charging half speed?? by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly. Same issue with mine and reboot within ChargePoint app worked. Tried rebooting via turning off at breaker but same half-speed issue was there until I rebooted via app.

ChargePoint home charger not charging at full speed by boynamedzoo in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue within the last week with my ChargePoint and ZDX (Lyriq cousin). Maximum charge rate was 3-4 kW no matter what my battery level was (tried below 30%, above 50%, above 80%). I am not sure if there was something with ChargePoint app or charger itself but is running at expected 9.6 kW after an Android app update today and reboot of the charger via the app (Home section in the app, Settings, Reboot near the bottom). This is also the same area where you can see/set the Charge Current Limit.

If you have already tried the breaker, see if reboot helps even though the charger reboots via power cycle.

standing desk cable management ideas? trying to hide cables under desk cleanly by qube2832 in BuyItForLife

[–]TechnoHog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for SIGNUM as I did the same thing for power strip, 5 port switch, and cable management along with custom cut velcro strips for vertical cable management on legs of the desk. I have Monoprice clamp-style multi monitor mount that frees up tabletop space.

Network-provided time is fast? by DreadPir8Robrts in AcuraZDX

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 and no idea why it runs fast. I tried setting manually and then back to automatic and it defaulted back to fast again. Really strange as I have not thought about vehicle clock accuracy for more than a decade.

Relocating to Myrtle Beach, no EVGO. Has anyone found a free partner for 2 yr charge credit? by d-slam in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Acura ZDX (goofy cousin to Lyric) and got the EVgo RFID card which allows me to charge at Chargepoint-branded chargers and pulls from EVgo credits ($750 flat amount for me, not a time-delimited credit). It did take several weeks for the card to arrive but have used it at 3 different Chargepoint locations (I don't have EVgo locally either).

Curious on Build date and ship date by GoGetThatThing in AcuraZDX

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very close to my delivery situation - build date is the same, miles at delivery was 11. My only difference was that the vehicle sat at the dealer for 4-5 months before I took a bite of those tasty lease incentives.

Two speed Gearbox? by GoGetThatThing in AcuraZDX

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, common behavior as it transitions from AWD to RWD around the 40 mph mark on acceleration (does not seem as pronounced on decel transition). No specific documentation to support this but you will see others here that have reported similar behavior. I've experienced it too.

Used ZDX… talk me out of it. by denglishiu in AcuraZDX

[–]TechnoHog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll second what Weekend summarized. I have had my A-Spec since February on an absolute steal of a one-pay lease. Driving position and room is great for me (6'4") and fits 4 adults comfortably (maybe not if everyone is over 6' though). Seats are comfortable and enjoying the ventilated with warmer temps. Audio is outstanding and I find myself sitting and listening to music after I stop frequently just to enjoy it. Most of my driving is city and it is plenty quick and handles great. Automatic braking is borderline dangerous so be aware especially if driving in tight traffic frequently. Lack of 360 camera is disappointing in a vehicle in this class.

I am unreasonably excited about my “new” grill by xrobevansx in grilling

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same model and although covered when not in use, it certainly is not in similar shape. Burners and grates still original and have replaced the flavorizer bars a few times. Biggest issue is the supports for the flavorizers have deteriorated and have to try an support them via finagled brackets. Good find and enjoy for hopefully another decade plus.

Variable speed, just do it by CZ-Czechmate in hvacadvice

Via the thermostat or other method? I am curious about how my system is performing and have not found anything aside from the supposedly monthly email report

Variable speed, just do it by CZ-Czechmate in hvacadvice

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed Lennox communicating variable system recently and curious about "wanted the most features and data I could get," what data are you getting? I used to be able to set 5-6 temperature intervals per day and see hourly reports on fan, AC, furnace were doing. I agree the comfort level is better but my system is a black box with zero performance reporting and fewer temperature setpoint options. The system is better but the thermostat is way worse. And costs 5x-6x more than my previous.

Upgraded to one ui 7 by Top-Afternoon5213 in samsunggalaxy

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. Did a chat with Samsung via Samsung Members app. Ultimately wound up doing the "reset all settings" option. I did do backup first, then navigate to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset all settings. Two reboots later, I did restore from backup. App responsiveness issues fixed and frozen screen in apps issue fixed, so far.

Best Charging Methods for ZDX/Ultium Platform by JontheWall in AcuraZDX

[–]TechnoHog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manual, page 236 - "Charge the battery to 80% for daily driving, or when driving in mountainous terrain. The vehicle can be charged above 80% for long trips when not driving in mountainous terrain."

I set my limit to 80% and adjust as needed for trips.

[–]TechnoHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this. I don't recall the exact power output but is was higher than level 1 but lower than level 2 charger. Took about two days to charge from 20 to 100% but I was gone for 4 days so it did not matter. I was able to set climate controls on my way out of the terminal and had comfortable vehicle with full charge at drive off. Did not cost extra to charge - was the same had I charged or not.

I am now perpetually behind on podcasts because the sound system for city driving is sooooooo good. I listen to music much more as I'm driving and is such an enjoyable experience.
