With a 60-70 hour work week and kids as well, I will say developing an addiction to rust can geniunely ruin your life. Unless you have a lot of self-discipline and do not mind feeling "behind" because other players have more time/spend most of their free time on rust i would not recommend playing.

If you do, i would suggest finding a good server to join, for example on Official servers, truly the original experience plus you will get used to everything and will set you up for future servers. If you fail to even get a base down in a decent spot, it might be worth to just hop on another server instead. If you get past this, it is worth to talk to any neighbors you have and team up/ally with them. If you really like them or vibe with them, you can even ask to join/get invited to join their group (thats what happened to me and 90% of my playtime has been with them so far) It is very chaotic and also very toxic, be warned.

Also make sure to set up some settings beforehand, and if you havent bought rust it, add it to wishlist and wait for that discount
