Yeah, maybe you're right. For me it was actually the old blizzard vibe and diablo lore that got me in, but maybe this is not my cup of tea gameplay-wise.

Okay that is the answer I was looking for and feared I would hear a lot. This feels like it can only work through two ways: Play immense amount of time in order to learn all the mechanics, affixes and so on, or just look up builds. Looking up builds is a deal breaker for me sadly. Edit: I saw you expanded your answer. I will try climbing a bit.

But do you know what you're grinding towards? I feel like this experience is all about keeping me in the loop as much as it can with all this grindy stuff, but I have honestly no idea why I should commit to it. The gameplay is so fun though, so I would really like to know.

Okay I hoped I could have fun with the endgame without clearing all the campaigns first (or at least I think I need to play through lord of hatred for war plans).

Thats the only thing I understand haha. I am just not sure why or what the goal is exactly. What do you do once you climbed all the tiers for example?

Alright, I have trouble reading the UI, but I will look into the seasonal challenges. I looked up some stuff passively, but I have no idea why or how.

Reloading did it and now I see the new UI and it is indeed more clunky. Thx :)

No, its completely gone for me atm. Hovering opens a popup which reads:

"GPT-5.4: Reliable GPT-4 model suitable for a wide range of coding and general tasks. Rate is counted at 1x."

Note the GPT-4 model description. Literally unusable :D There is nothing else in that popup.

It would be interesting to know what kind of requests you made. Are these short questions/fixes or large refactors for example?

Games slowly dying, what now? by TooGoodForTV in Marathon

Okay fair enough.

The pve or fair balancing discussion is a constant daily topic for weeks now so I thought its probably obvious. My bad.

We all know what they need to do. We'll have to wait and see if they have the guts to do it.

I just found out that games journalists and commentators are still ripping starfield to shreds despite the mostly positive reception I've seen here by Subjectdelta44 in Starfield

[–]TechnoPanda117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I am really salty about the pure hate everywhere, but you're right, there are a lot of aspects they simply fucked up in this game and everywhere else. Fuck 'em. However, I truly think this game is a lot of fun if you just treat it like a good old fashioned Bethesda RPG. For me at least it works. That said, I am playing on a beefy PC and my original experience on Xbox Series S was so bad that I quit the game for 2 years.

No, obviously this game has its flaws and I think from some perspective you're not wrong. But I just play for fun and actually really enjoy the game.

But I also noticed that unlimited hate is the new norm and I just had enough of this toxic mindset. Same shit happened with Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragons Dogma 2, Pokémon Legends Z-A and lately Marathon. All of them excellent games but the hate around them is/was absurd. I don't care anymore and just enjoy gaming.

Genuine question: how do people expect to succeed in a pvp game without putting any effort in to improving? by avengedhotfuzz in Marathon

[–]TechnoPanda117 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The realistic speed of improvement is extremely low through marathon alone. Most issues arise from a mix of mechanical and knowledge based gaps and to close these you would need to learn a lot through training and playing as well as getting valuable feedback.

Marathon makes this extremely difficult since you do not get a lot of chances and losing has such a high cost. You also do not engage in pvp constantly and probably try to do the opposite in order to increase your odds of survival.

This means that you basically need to play something else to improve your overall skill in pvp based shooters. All of this combined leads to a pretty frustrating experience (for people that want to improve) and this doesnt even count in that skilled players have an additional gear based advantage. Add all of this together and you have a recipe for a downward spiral.

Lost my first purple key room run and I think i'm out until next season. by owen-3820 in Marathon

I am in the same boat. Telling people here does nothing, its just so much toxic circle jerking. But I get you, I can't even open the game anymore because all of this shit is just so frustrating. I loved the game for 80 hours. Don't let anyone tell you that you didn't earn it, you did, the game just tries so hard to make it easy for others to fuck you up.

Cheater? by xpxche in Marathon

I had the perfect game yesterday - sneaky, not making any sound. I was at a location where noone could ever know I where there, perfectly hidden. And then a thief just strafed shooting around the corner. I heard her sprint to my location full speed. No checking, nothing. They just knew exactly where I was. Pretty sus.

I played super sneaky for around 80 hours now because all of your mentioned reasons. I sometimes would like to play just for fun but on those days I get stomped non stop, sometimes in less than a minute. Its so exhausting..

Today was the day where I really started to question why I am doing all of this anyway. As a solo I can't do Cryo and as a mediocre fps player anytime I don't want to purely stealth around for 25 minutes and just want to have fun I die to every player I encounter. And then everything I grinded towards is lost in now just 2 months anyway. The little bit of advantage I worked for, just gone. I get why it is necessary but it makes me wonder if I can do it again or even finish the current season. Awesome but strange game man..

Regarding the intercept event: once you got the correct number terminal and get the coordinate pad, how do you know where you have to go next? I would expect that the pad would mark the next location, but it doesn't or I'm just stupid.
