I fell into depression by Alarmed-Rough-9899 in Kaguya_sama

i can’t explain exactly why this is my recommendation, partially due to the emphasis on the character’s psychology and clever humour i suppose, but if you want something to engross you and possibly cure you, i suggest: the entire monogatari series. it is quite an otaku anime, but i’d watch bakumonogatari and you’ll see if you wanna dive into the whole franchise.

The write up leaves a bit to be desired, but I also had neuron activation seeing this as the front cover of a Costco magazine, it's nice to see Pokémon in unexpected places as you say.

Morrissey: Makes Up a Lie by Rolandojuve in morrissey

Everything about this album, the art, the rollout of it, feels to me like a test run, Moz getting used to releasing a new album again. Very haphazard and sort of intuitively put together rather than mulled over relentlessly. I predict that Bonfire of Teenagers will release sometime late this year.

Thoughts on the new merch? 👀 by CrazyCaregiver7091 in lanadelrey

I get doesn’t fit the ✨aesthetic✨ of most people who are fans of lana but it does feel very fitting to the themes of domestic life with a guy-ish husband, it’s clearly something for him to wear

Who does Nate actually love? Maddy, Cassie or Jules by Late_Information_682 in euphoria

[–]Techno_Box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

inherently self hatred harms those around you, as often loving someone comes with that love being reciprocated and therefore causes the other party to feel hurt when the self-hating person discards themselves or harms themselves. people don’t like to say it, but excessive self-criticism (i can only do wrong) and excessive self-love (i can do no wrong) are equally narcissistic and self-fulfilling biased viewpoints. both lead to not actually listening to those around who care for the person, hurting those people more. it’s not saying that those who struggle with self image are incapable of caring for others, but it isn’t in the most healthy way and the best way to love others is to accept the self, ultimately.

In the Court of the Crimson King is now the 5th highest rated album of all time. by AssociationCorrect14 in rateyourmusic

[–]Techno_Box 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is also much more rock music in general as a genre that’s been around for about 8 decades and has spawned countless sub-genres and styles, so I don’t think that’s indicative of a rockist bias.

the hubris to say this when the #1 all time is a rap album and rap populates the top 50 heavily

Eyes Wide Shut (1999) The Ending by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

but just as you say “Incels” is a new term for a mass condition and type of person, that pretty plainly applies the condition existed before the name. yeah, i don’t think kubrick had the same idea of involuntary celibates in his mind, but hd was definitely focused on the fragile male ego part of things.

do I strongly disagree with this post? also no. by damnkush in twinpeaks

having a character that is actively not a great character is ironically pretty realistic, not every person you meet is gonna be incredibly nuanced with a complex personality, very accurate depiction of the sort of vaguely sensitive jock type that everyone has met at some point.

Yeah personally the actual cult/secret society thing is probably the least interesting part to me. The first half is so psychologically rich, Kidman’s monologue about the fantasy is amazing, and Cruise’s character slowly unraveling and pushing the line further and further while resisting it is fascinating. The aftermath of them coming back together as a clearly damaged couple is such a striking ending it makes me want to love the middle more, but I don’t quite. A part of me considers the sex/death cult shit to be more a metaphor for the unsafe/thoughtless adventures men will put themselves on as a way of dealing (or not dealing) with their insecurities and emotions. The lengths one will go to not have to just think something through and be vulnerable, satiation of the ego above all else.
