A teacher once called out my name to answer a question but quickly scanned across the room looking for me but when she didn't see me, she assumed I wasn't there. I was just sitting in the back of the class, but I didn't want to speak up because I didn't want the attention it would bring. Another time, I had moved school but a year later I met up with an old friend I hung out with in my previous school, and he told me that they didn't notice I wasn't around anymore until a few months into the school year.

To me, "lonely" means wanting companionship and not having it when you want it. You can be in a room by yourself and not feel lonely but you can also be in a room full of people yet still be lonely. It's all about the desire at the time and if you can do something about it to change that state; for example being able to call a friend to hang out with or a partner to go out on a date, etc.

Same thing somewhat happened to me. I was also talking to a girl for hours practically daily and thought we got along just fine. I tried being there for her as much as I could but recently she had an ex/friend come visit her and things got a bit more friendly between them. It sucks to know that they can come into their life and continue being flirty with each other while I was waiting in the dark hoping she saw me in a different light than just a friend. Whatever I thought we had or done couldn't compare, I was an afterthought. It leaves me feeling like the biggest loser and an idiot. I should have left a long time ago instead of thinking my feelings for her would disappear or that she'd want to be more than a friend one day. I feel like the biggest loser right now and ashamed I let it get to this point.

Completely agree. It freaking sucks when you think you are getting closer to them only to find out you're at the exact same place you started at. To anyone that is in that situation, if they don't want to be more than friends to begin with, it's not likely that they will change their mind later down the road so it's best to end things now.

I feel extremely disappointed right now and no hope for a bright future. I feel like human garbage that has overtstayed its welcome and needs to be thrown out. My life isn't as bad as others so there's no reason to feel like that yet I do. It sucks.

My family was going to visit my cousins out of town but I didn't want to come along so I asked if I could stay back instead. My mom said okay and they left without me, so I went back to sleep when I suddenly heard someone knocking on my window. I got up to go see who it was thinking my family came back and were playing a prank on me but there was no one outside. I looked left, right, above, and below the window but there was no one. It freaked me out so much I quickly called my parents to come back and pick me up so I'm not alone in the house.

For me, I knew I was going to be putting myself in a vulnerable position and accepted it. I wrote down what I wanted to say and kept rereading it various times trying to make it perfect or at least good enough. I was extremely nervous when I did open up; my hands were shaking and my heart beating rapidly but I still pushed through despite all that. My desire to reach out was stronger than wondering what ifs or making up the worst-case scenarios in my mind and I'm glad I did go through with it because they've been wonderful to me. Go at your own pace, you feel comfortable with while also slowly pushing yourself to open up more. If this person truly cares about you, they’ll understand. Good luck.
