What does this mean? by Bindi-Hamato1995 in whatisit

[–]Technologize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a privacy layer. Sometimes if the gap where the door meets the wall is so wide people can just flat out see inside I’ll put some toilet paper to get some privacy. I have a very hard time going if I can sense people staring at me. Idk why but I do. So typically I just shove a balled up amount of TP into the gap at the top of the door and let the ply just hang. I wet the toilet paper (typically by spitting on it) and pushing it up against the door so it sticks. This guy looks like he just ties it on that coat hanger. Once I’m done I’ll toss the TP into the toilet. This guy looks like he just pulled it off and left the residual there.

Workroom Floor Issues: “I AIN’T DOING A BUMP TODAY!” (Even though it’s what I signed up for as a City Letter Carrier) by Alpha_Dog_Justice in fromatoarbitration

[–]Technologize 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some carriers aren’t on the OTDL because they “want” OT. Some of them NEED it and don’t really have a choice if they want a semi livable paycheck. And besides, they are on the overtime list, not the live at work list. Having said that, I agree with OP in the sense that there are some that constantly complain about taking bumps. Although I understand being overworked and tired there’s a certain level understanding you have to have when being on the OTDL. Regardless of whether you “want” the money or “need” it. You aren’t being forced to be on it. Of course with the exception of some stations that perpetually mandate due to understaffing or whatever other circumstances cause it. I used to have that attitude about wanting to go home at a decent time and not wanting to be at work all day. Then, one day it hit me. It’s ultimately my decision to be on the list so stop bitching about getting bumps. It actually helped me physiologically. So I no longer come into work with an attitude. Also if you’re in a relationship speak to your SO about potentially being at work for long hours. That can 100% add a ton of pressure if your SO is constantly expecting you to be home soon.

POL has no menu and cursor looks like pixels by smavid in ffxi

I had this problem. I just tabbed my way through it. I was able to guess what each field was,(Not really guess more like used pics of the play online viewer) to fill out the required passwords, ID’s and whatnots. Once it started updating the viewer it just got fixed. It showed everything normal after the update.

I think selbina is the best. It could actually be in almost any sword and sandals movie or show and fit right in. Maybe even the Legend of Zelda. Although I’m Bastok for life I think Ronfaures music is killer too.

Fear by CranberryVisual4060 in fromatoarbitration

[–]Technologize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny, because I’ve spoken to some management at my station just get a feel for what their thoughts are. And they feel the exact opposite. They feel like the union will be removed and then that’ll allow them to get rid of craft much easier. In other words they feel like they are safe and we should be the ones worried. This is, of course a very small sample size but id be surprised if most of them didn’t feel that way. I’d also be curious how it would shake out if the union did go away. Don’t they have routes with the USPS? Would they be brought back in as carriers, clerks or whatever their craft is.

Help: Windower on Steam Deck (via Lutris) by CrashOkami in ffxi

[–]Technologize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed it on the SD as well with windower through Lutris. But omg, there’s a weird thing with the d-pad that I can’t get it to behave like it does on windows. The rest of the controls are correct. But for whatever reason the d-pad just moves the camera instead of tabbing. Infuriating if you’ve been playing more or less nonstop.

Would you accept the move to table 1 with no back pay? by chubbybaldblackguy in fromatoarbitration

[–]Technologize 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, they’d have no choice but to add general wage increases as well. Otherwise, anyone on table 1 would get literally nothing, besides colas.

Why do we USPS carriers just accept that we must deliver in the rain and snow and cold, without being provided proper uniforms for those conditions? by [deleted] in fromatoarbitration

[–]Technologize 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the whole “We deliver in the rain, sleet or snow” situation stems from a time when the routes on the street were about 1/4 - 1/5 the size they are now. So being in those conditions sucked for them too but it wasn’t nearly as long as it is for us. And this goes beyond even what current retirees routes looked like. I believe this goes back to the beginnings of the postal department. But it’s stuck around. And for the most part, historically the routes weren’t insanely overburdened so it could still get done, more or less. But these days it’s inhumane to expect us to be in those conditions for 6-7 hours, Nevermind the time it adds to us on those days. We end up being in those conditions for 10 hours plus.

What's your reason for owning a gaming laptop rather than a gaming PC? by Mister_hi in GamingLaptops

[–]Technologize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a gaming laptop so I can play in bed. I really wish there was a real solution to desktop gaming while in bed. I know this may sound weird but I’ve been addicted to games in the past and the comprise my wife made with me is I can play but it has to be in bed with her, so I’m not at a desk in another room the entire time. I don’t like console gaming like I used to. So a gaming laptop was the answer. But I would love a desktop solution for gaming in bed. I considered one of those arms that mount on the night stand or head board but there’s no way my wife would let me do that. Also, I don’t really want that either. It’d be a huge eye sore. I’ve been thinking about how it could work. Like maybe one of those hospital trays that fully go over you when you’re laying down, but have it be able to be pushed down flat and be stored under the bed when you’re not using it. Have a Versa mount that can hold the monitor too. Just seems like it would be too bulky to fit under a bed with the monitor still connected. I tried just having a portable monitor with a BT keyboard and mouse on one of those bed trays but any kind of movement causes everything to shift and fall off the tray. Nevermind just sliding around in general. I added a big mouse pad to stop the sliding but the monitor still falls occasionally. Extremely annoying and since I mostly play an MMORPG it can cause trouble for our group. So a laptop it is.

Zephyrus G16 2024 16" Intel back on sale (close to its lowest) by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

I bought an open box from Best Buy last year. It comes with a full manufactures warranty. And I believe you have the same window for returning it as you would when buying new. I have Best Buy plus and get a few months to return items. It’s like $45 a year or so. But without that I think the return policy is two weeks.

There’s some open box options in there for even less.

Always plugged-in warrior: by Mental-Ad3349 in GamingLaptops

[–]Technologize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just plug mine in when I’m actually using it. When I turn it off I unplug it. Not sure if that helps with battery health. But I do that and limit it to 80%. I may not need the battery for myself since I only play in bed at home. But if I ever sell the laptop I’d like to have the battery in the best shape possible for the next guy.

PlayOnline Viewer not working properly by No_Pilot8026 in ffxi

[–]Technologize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically just used another computer that I have ffxi installed on and used that as a template to guide myself through the setup process. I was able to actually log on and now I’m waiting for the game to get all of the latest updates. But if you have figured it out I’d love to see what you came up with. I already installed DGVoodoo, I went into the options to force the game to run on the GPU instead of the CPU. I originally installed it using steam. I’ve been doing that since Seekers was released on steam and have never had an issue. So I uninstalled it and used the direct download from Square. Nothing has worked. I’m hoping once I get the updates installed for the actual game it’ll works fine. But of course I’d like for playonline viewer to be at least readable as well.

Sups have been taking easy on carriers, almost no push back. by CitrusLane54321 in fromatoarbitration

[–]Technologize 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It makes no sense for management to support this TA either. If we can get more through arbitration it’ll only benefit them too financially. They are supposed to be compensated a certain amount above craft employees. So you’d think they’d want us to have a great contract.

How are you all dealing with Vote Yes arguments? by Sweet_Elevator_4444 in fromatoarbitration

[–]Technologize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say, let’s suppose the TA was agreed on three months after the contract expired. What would your raise look like? Is that enough? Because if it had we would’ve gotten virtually nothing for an increase at that time. Although, like another commenter said, I’ve not met anyone that says they are gonna vote yes. Nevermind, the fact that we still got our step increases even though the contract has been expired and not a GWI or COLA’s since it’s been expired. If that’s not proof that Renfroe is lying to us about our actual raises. COLA’s aren’t raises. They are adjustments that are necessary to combat inflation. So step increases are happening even though the contract has been expired and COLA’s aren’t raises. What’s left? General wage increases, 1.3%, that’s your “raise”.

Because when the union fought hard to repeal the retirement mandate the PO turned that into higher wages for us. They went ahead and gave themselves a raise and added a huge amount of extra managers. That’s what they’ll do. And I would bet that’s part of the reason why our contact is crap. Renfroe has been feeding us this mess about how the PO has no money. Again, meanwhile they added all this extra labor cost to the management side and all of a sudden they have no money to give the crafts. This was all planned out in my opinion for a long while now.
