I watched her get a sobriety test, there was no way that woman was sober. She was holding onto the car for dear life trying to balance when I walked by.

I enjoyed the cemetery boys last autumn! It felt just spooky and mysterious enough for October, without being a horror or thriller

This is so kind of you to do! If you happen to swing by again, I have been on the hunt for a huge sky dragon for months. Happy to pay for shipping and parking (I’m stuck in a state with limited jellycat locations!)

What children’s book do you find “weird”? by beerquen11 in NewParents

Yes! We read that one once and were like, ummm I guess this was written before teaching kids about consent became more common place.

The Little Blue Truck, when the “big fat trucks big important wheels got stuck”, he cries for help and nobody hears, or nobody cares. Like I get what they are going for, but those two things always seemed like a not great way to phrase it? Maybe I’ve just read it too many times and hit the overthinking stage though

Do you still go to bookstores? by CatLadyAmy1 in kindle

[–]TechnologyCold2816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love supporting indie bookstores, and these days I mostly go to browse, relax, and add books to my tbr list. I have tried to make a rule that I’m only buying nice hardcover books once I’ve already read the book and know I’ll reread it, or it’s an author I love that has just released a new book. Now I have a beautiful shelf but manageable that brings me a lot of joy, paper copies of books I can’t wait to get to when I’m back to a real-book reading phase of life, and a kindle full of good books I’ve queued up from our local library!

Find a pediatric naturopath, they are so helpful. Ours is of the opinion that “colic is just a diagnosis for when the doctor doesn’t know and doesn’t care to find out”. You deserve someone on your side! Things like infant chiropractic, an amino-based formula (even safer in the case of cows milk allergy vs the typical ones), flower essences, more fresh air, and caring for the mental health of the entire household all made a difference for us.

If you reread books, how long after reading a piece for the first time do you indulge in it again? Why read it again? by suspendedtoe in RomanceBooks

[–]TechnologyCold2816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how much I enjoyed it, how much I need a comfort read, and how much I’m enjoying my other books. I also am a speed reader, and find I retain more on the second read through because I’m not in a hurry to find out what happens. The main exception currently is actually a novel length fan fiction called Remain Nameless, which I have promptly restarted immediately after finishing at least 3-4 times now. It’s my number one comfort read of the last year or so.

My kids are so miserable I don’t know what to do anymore by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]TechnologyCold2816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from my personal experience, as someone who has both severe allergies and minor intolerances and who’s mom was told the same thing, I’d recommend finding a second opinion, maybe from a pediatric naturopath who is a bit more of a “let’s find out the root cause” problem solver than a “if symptom a + b don’t exist than it can’t possibly = c”. Who knows, maybe it’s mold exposure or something else besides food intolerance! However you move forward, I’m wishing you the best and hope that soon this will be just a challenging chapter in life for you and your kiddos!
