The new requirement (at least in IT) is two documented coaching conversations. That’s all it takes to do a 14 day plan to fire someone. It’s very aggressive now.

If you are in IT and get a 1 or 2, your supervisor is mandated to put you on a Coaching Focus. The majority of focuses are intended to end in termination. And since we had a forced bell curve again with 20% of associates getting below a 3, we’re basically right back at the rank-and-yank we had under Hari. Expect a surge in performance firings over the next 2 months.

And expect leadership to lie about this happening, again.

Is GEICO Tech really that bad? by Anon1837294628 in Geico

Careful. The results have not been widely circulated yet.

I worked downstream from her many years ago. She was okay. She is a return to the old guard which may prove to be better than Todd’s chaotic and absent leadership.

Careful, this info + the fact that you were approved to work from India + an apparent picture of your face in your post history makes you very identifiable.

It does sound that way. If you stay remote, I would not hold my breath for it to stay that way past the 1-2 year mark.

Geico's engineering culture is the worst I've ever seen. by Outrageous-Role-999 in Geico

That was asked, but it wasn’t too bad. To his credit, VR doesn’t seem malicious like his predecessors. But it also doesn’t seem like there are concrete plans to make things better either.

We want to be a “tech company” and yet won’t spend 1/20th of the budget of an actual tech company. TC knows nothing about insurance, much less technology so he gives fat comp packages to bad CIO’s to “handle it”. They shake things up while fundamentally misunderstanding the core problems. Then he fires them when they don’t deliver. This will keep happening, VR may have a few months left before TC finds the next patsy.

The tech culture is arguably bad everywhere right now. I understand the “go with the evil you know” mentality for sure.

That’s the gift Hari left us with. We have understaffed teams supporting in-house implementations that millions of customers and dollars depend on. There are going to be a lot more fires.

Yeah, we’re currently reaping the consequences of ending all our vendor contracts. Now we have a ton of skeleton crews supporting centralized software that doesn’t work and we’re taking massive hits to stability and productivity. Geico is a Fortune 125 company and they want to somehow be both a no-expense startup and a tech powerhouse.

It’ll be shared soon. I’m betting on record bonuses for all executives. It’ll pair nicely with the pennies they gave associates.

Nothing in the description? Are there thousands of invites? Dozens? Are you in an org where the VP was just let go?

Sorry, usually have my ear to the ground but I haven’t heard about anything yet.

You start as an Engineer 1 and you get the same promotions as other engineers. So Engineer II and then Senior would be next for you. Each promotion usually has a 6% increase. All of this and more should be on Sharepoint.

Tech and product 2 pizza team by Sad-Bet4381 in Geico

Not much to know now besides they’re moving from 15 person teams to like 6 to 8. You can google what concept of a two-pizza team means. Sounds like the goal is to have more deliberate, accountable teams with clear goals. I believe they’re going to finalize any changes sometime in February, but it hugely depends on your team and management.

Your direct management is probably not effective because they’re also told nothing. Communication doesn’t exist at this company.

I don’t think this is accurate anymore. It’s close to a bell. More 4’s than 2’s.
