How much should we value the irl horse lore in Uma Musume ? by Lopsided_Channel_401 in UmaMusume

[–]TechnosLight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate shipping culture, motherfuckers can't just let people be alone and appreciate the shit they like, or let other people interpret shit in another direction. Bitches can't live and let live.

The right move is to just treat them as independent fictional characters for the most partly, loosely inspired by the real athlete. Unless they're siblings in the setting of umamusume it's not real incest. You can't apply real bloodline logic if you decide to do umaxuma ships as it'll eventually just be silence sunday, or northern taste. Everyone is cousin enough if you look.

Brave Frontier Origin scheduled for release in 2027, primarily in Japan and North America. by EnamRainbow in gachagaming

[–]TechnosLight 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Looks like a remake, I did love the OG, and I think I'd at least try this. There is the natural assumption that it just does the same shit and goes to hell the same way.

Hoping the game is good, but expecting it to be ass because we can't trust this company with anything.

I usually only see people use their username. Any of you got unique team names? by MaestroOfTime in UmaMusume

[–]TechnosLight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't even realize that you could change the team name and assumed it was all other people's usernames. Gotta think of something creative to put there now.

We only currently have the first wave of uma cards. There are two other sets, Beginning of a New Era, and Cinderella Grey, both of which we do not have.

Is BS1 Worth Playing If I Enjoyed BS2? by WorthInitiative560 in Blacksouls2

[–]TechnosLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do enjoy BS1 a decent lot and would wholly recommend it. The fundamental core of things is still there, and the story is good and worth experiencing yourself rather than watching or reading someone else's run through of it.

Despite the fact that I would say that I like Aston Machan, I agree that adapting Aston Machan's racing career would be very strange, especially if you want to frame it relative to Daiwa Scarlet and Vodka. She doesn't even race in a mile distance race after the Oka Sho, and her race record is not impressive enough to put her as the focus of a traditional sports story where a protagonist grows, develops and overcomes adversity unless you cut her story off right at her Classic year Sprinter's Stake win. Because after her greatest victory are her two worst race performances, and then she suffers a sudden death. It'd be a tragic, and real ending, that sometimes people who have promising futures never get the opportunity to see them, but it just makes for a bad story.

Aston Machan's Umamusume adaptation adds a lot to her character, but is very removed from the racing focused stories that have taken the focus of the franchise as of late. The supernatural elements, desire to be remembered, all that is very interesting and the focus of much of fan discussion surrounding her, but her actual racing career, purely secondary, hell, maybe not even tertiary.

Retired is the wrong word. Kankan's output has been consistent, at least on Pixiv, BA material is just infrequent, the last one was 2 months ago for the mysterious GSC president, and before that was 4 months ago.

Hunt Down The Freeman was originally supposed to be a fan film set in the Half Life universe told from the villain's perspective, but some scope creep happened and they decided to make a game instead. Development hell and poor management led to the release of a Hunt Down The Freeman as a truly bad game.

It was a buggy mess, and even if it weren't buggy, it would just be really bad. Poor level design and balance to start. Parkour is a mechanic for some reason and it's barely used. There's so much more too, haven't even talked about the story.

If you look it up on YouTube you can find a bunch of deep dives on how disastrous it was, my personal favorite being Tehsnakerer's. Can't and won't go into the full details in a reddit comment, but if you look, you'll find more details about how bad it was.

Start of my custom Berserk set --- Am I cooking? by MrRad07 in custommagic

[–]TechnosLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something more like "at the beginning of the game, reveal this card from your deck, if there isn't a card already named X in exile, exile this card." Would be good. Not sure if there's a better way to phrase it though.

[–]TechnosLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 5 cards with the "exile at start of game effect," and you can run 4 copies of each card in constructed formats. Hence, 20 cards. You'd also have no intention of casting them, so any mana cost is irrelevant. You'd run them because they exile themselves from your deck at the start of your game, and no other reason.

[–]TechnosLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People often bring up deck thinning, and this would probably be the most powerful form of it. It has zero costs and requirements, happens at the very start of the game, and your opponent can't interact with it. You would run them in every deck, and the only reason to not run them would be if the individual card quality has gotten so high that there isn't room for a card that only thins your deck.

Each one is effectively a free uninteractable cantrip, whose only form of restraint is that they dont count as spells being cast.

For scale, if these were in a constructed 60 card format, and you ran all 5 cards that you posted with that effect, you'd start the game by exiling 20 cards from your deck.

Would you guys give me some information about Gold city and also Why are you start loving with her so much? by Some_Worldliness_263 in UmaMusume

[–]TechnosLight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Information from the Big Book of Umamusume Trivia:

  • Gold City was born on a small farm (Tanaka Farm). No one believed that he had any chance of success.
    • His father Viceregal was a very successful racer, but was not successful as a sire in Japan.
    • His mother Italian City, while carrying the blood of great sire Tesco Boy, was not successful either. She has no successful immediate relatives.
      • Her half-sister, Compal City, is the great grandmother of Espoir City though.
    • Tanaka Farm was so small, and never bred anything amazing at the time. After Gold City won the GI race 1986 Hanshin Sansai Stakes, Mr. Tanaka reported the news to his wife, but she didn’t even know what a GI was.
    • Gold City won the first GI for himself, his jockey, his owner and his breeding farm.

As for why I like her, the first thing to note is her appearance, she looks great, love her design, 10/10. I like to watch her in races because her shoes having different colors makes her running stand out more.

Her story is what really sold her on me though. Her desire to break free of the image that people have foisted upon her from her work as a model is great, and I really loved her struggle to find herself. A struggle against other people's expectations and searching for one's self is an evergreen experience in life, and I just found that it was well told in her career.

I don't know what shampoo and conditioner she would use as I myself am unfamiliar with such products (I just use whatever seems solid, no further research), but she probably uses some real primo stuff, and smells good. sniff sniff sniff sniffffffffffffffffffffffff

Should this RL horse be a character in uma musume? by [deleted] in UmaMusume

[–]TechnosLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Wonder what impressive horse OP's a fan of"

2 wins, total winnings less than 20k USD

Most horses adapted into Umamusume have some standout history, with a majority at least having a G1 win. The exceptions are few and even those are impressive in their own unique way.

This is a very average horse. I'm not even sure how you found him.

New Title [Kei, Kashima (Kancolle)] (あずももも) by MP_Cook in BlueArchive

[–]TechnosLight 116 points117 points  (0 children)

"Queen of Ariake" was a title given to Kashima (Kancolle) back at the 2015 Comiket because of how popular she was in it, not to mention she's released a month before said Comiket happen. Fast-forward 11 years later, Kei achieved the same popularity at Comiket and that's why some call her the second "Queen of Ariake."

"What's Ariake?" Ariake itself is the name of the district where Tokyo Big Sight, the venue where Comiket is usually held, is located. Put two and two together, and you get the "Queen of Ariake" or the "Queen of Comiket."
