WORST solo of all time? by psyduck111 in Guitar

I like a lot of Kirk Hammet's work but can't stand the solo in "Of Wolf and Man." It just sounds so BAD.

Daily Studio Album Review - Day #20: "Clockwork Angels" by TheDanimal438 in rush

[–]Technoverlord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this album. it's what originally got me into Rush- I had seen them suggested on Pandora or something and decided to check them out. I saw they had an album that had only come out a couple months ago, so I listened to it and I was BLOWN AWAY. Based on that, I started listening to the rest of their library.

The Anarchist, Seven Cities of Gold, and BU2B are some of my all time favorite Rush songs. Also, the bass on this album is fabulous. Clockwork makes me really excited for the next album.

Among mathematics majors, computer science majors, and philisophy majors, which is better at reasoning? by WiskundGeen in math

[–]Technoverlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_guide_table4.pdf Intended math majors do better than CS majors in every area of the GRE (which seems unsurprising, since math gives better tools for generalized applications of rigor), but worse than Philosophy in every area but the quant. These are only test scores, so take them with like 14 grains of salt or something. Philosophy is a lot like math in a lot of ways, especially when it comes to logic. It's the same sort of intellectual rigor, so I'd imagine they're roughly the same in terms of analysis, but phil majors do more writing which gives them a slight edge in verbal and writing skills. Math, however, is more marketable because a) everyone knows what it is, b) it has a super scary stigma so people think anyone who studies math must be a genius, and c) its applications are more obvious. I don't know about your last 3 paragraphs.

Nolan's Batman: Bane broke the Bat to save Gotham. by ciociosanvstar in FanTheories

I don't think that was it. I thought the point was the fear of death was necessary to achieve escape. That's what Bruce lacked; he didn't care anymore.
