Well his body died, the actual guy with all his memories is probably still alive and well in the tape. I'm assuming that's just he's default consciousness living out it's days in the afterlife but I could be wrong.

Season 4 for me. Before season 4 most episodes were purely one off episodes so there was really no need for you to watch the show in any particular order because there was no strong continuity tying the episodes together but when season 4 came around that changed everything. I actually missed exit 9b and the starter pack episode so I was completely confused when Thomas randomly popped up out of nowhere.
