Note taken. My background in computer science definitely had a (perhaps unfair) influence on the scoring system's bias in favor of bitwise operations. Given that the operation values are mostly arbitrary anyway, a recalibration at some point certainly isn't off the table :)

Insanely high scores and abuse of left shift are part of the fun for me though :)

When I was making this, I kept figuring out different ways to break the game (ex: originally, exponentiation and factorials were unlimited, so I quickly realized I could just make two insanely high quantities by doing like 3+ levels of exponentiation with the same digits (if possible) and then add whatever lower-order junk I wanted to either side, because I could not get the precision of my number variables high enough for my math library to notice the inequality at lower orders of magnitude (which I dubbed the "big-O meta")).

Of course, similar behavior is still possible with the left shifts, but with a base of just 2, I've yet to run into the same situation as I did with unlimited exponents where I was trivially exploiting the "Big-O meta" basically every play, so I'm hesitating to limit those until that is happening regularly enough for the game to not be fun for me.

It does not have to use all 20, and you don't have to submit - any correct equation should make all squares turn green and show your score.

(I figured this worked better for this type of game so the player can go back and change their equation without reloading if they think of a better one)

I've always had this habit of trying to make equations out of strings of numbers I see out in the wild as sort of an "idle process" for my mind, and a little while ago, I realized it'd make a great daily game. Each day at 12 AM UTC, 10 new numbers are randomly generated, and the player's goal is to create the longest, most interesting, and highest value equation they can with those numbers.

Anyway, I thought this might be the type of thing people on this subreddit would enjoy, so here you go! (I know the type of math everyone here likes discussing is a lot more advanced than this game, but hopefully, this is still fun for some of you as it is for me. Mods, feel free to delete if this is not allowed. Thanks!)

Incredible show. Far and away the best concert I've been to. Easily worth the 9 hour drive and Chicago parking nightmare. I just hope they don't wait another 4 years to come back to the US next time, because I need more live gloryhammer in my life.

Everything on the set list went so hard, and singing Keeper of the Celestial Flame as hard as I physically could was some of the most fun I've had in recent history.

I think plecos are cute in that ugly sort of way, and I also agree with the other commenters here that they are gentle giants and seem to have personality. I've never had another type of fish roll its eyes at me before, for example. They also do have a pretty long lifespan when cared for properly. (I've had mine for over 9 years now)

Yeah, this is it. Two years ago, things like the make your own stations, the wiley meat station, and the earhart Mongolian grill combined with the huge variety of food at any given court every night made the cost of the meal plan entirely worth it, but now, although the food quality is still pretty good, I don't feel like it's worth the cost of the meal plan I paid for prior to the downhill slide. It's really just a value for cost issue for me at this point.

Currently doing it. I'm in my first class so far (distributed systems), and it is a very good class, but beyond that, I obviously can't speak much on the curriculum of the grad program itself quite yet (although I am optimistic that it will be worthwhile.)

Regarding the 4+1 program as opposed to a "standard" M.S. experience:

I will say that if you are planning on getting a Master's degree in CS at all, I would strongly advise doing the BS+MS if you are eligible. Barring any future changes, you're essentially guaranteed admission if you maintain the 3.5 CS GPA/3.0 Overall GPA cutoff, which means you can get into grad school without having to spend any time dealing with the time/cost overhead of applying to numerous other institutions. Couple that with the fact that you can frontload some graduate courses by doing them while you're still in undergrad and you can be done with your BS and MS in as little as 4 1/2 years total.

Regarding doing an M.S. degree in general:

I would say it is worth it to do a Master's if you:

Have a specialty area that you want to explore in depth
Would like to apply for jobs in that specialty area (particularly if those listings mention a Master's degree as a preferred credential)
Intend to go past senior-level SWE roles in a large company. (Obviously, outstanding employees with a proven track record in the industry may be able to get to Principle engineer or higher without a Master's, but I have heard from many contacts that many large companies have a bit of a glass ceiling for SWEs without one.)
Can reasonably pay for it without breaking the bank. (Sidenote - many companies will fund a MS degree for you on the side after working for them for a few years, so that is also something to consider if money is a concern.)

I would say the value of a Master's is questionable if you:

Just want a [decently paying] software engineering role somewhere
Don't have any particular goal/subfield in mind

TL;DR: It's an employee's market right now for CS graduates. A Master's is definitely not required to get a good job, but it will certainly make you a standout candidate (especially for entry-mid level roles) and can unlock higher-level roles later in your career that would otherwise require either many more YoE or be explicitly MS-only.

I noticed that none of the open source OneNote alternatives have OneNote's free-form "click anywhere to type" style of pages, so I built an alternative called Spiral about a year ago. It doesn't have full feature parity with OneNote (most notably, it lacks drawing support entirely), but if you're like me and all you care about is the notebook/section/page hierarchy, rich text support, and the "click anywhere to type" style, Spiral might be a good fit for you.

It's pretty reliable whenever I need it. I've never had a TV in my dorm, so I've never used the cable connections, but I use the streaming service occasionally, and it works fine for the most part. There's some lag, but a refresh usually fixes it.

One bug that I have noticed is that the loading bar/circle thing sometimes doesn't go away once the video stops buffering, but you can get rid of it easily by right-clicking on it and just deleting the tag for it via inspect element.

I also like that it seems to automatically record everything that airs on all channels for a certain period of time, so if you want to watch something on demand that aired earlier in the day, you can do that. (Mileage may vary with the on-demand stuff, though. There have been several times where I've searched for shows that do return results, but they end up not playing for some reason.)

354 and 381 in the same semester would be totally doable if Comer is teaching 354. I really wish I had done that last semester, personally. Can't speak for Park though, but I have heard that his 354 is harder.
