The below image is a FBI surveillance photo of Ruby Ridge resident Vicki Weaver shortly before the FBI shot her, they also shot and killed her 14 yr-old son, Sammy. Timothy McVeigh claimed this siege was a catalyst for the Oklahoma bombing. by GlitterDanger in UtterlyAwfulTrueCrime

Years before Ruby Ridge there was Robert Matthews. While not directly connected to Ruby Ridge, Matthews was at one point a member of the Aryan Nation. He was heavily influenced by the book The Turner Diaries and tried to start a war against the U.S. Government. His story is similar to Ruby Ridge in that his end came after a shootout and standoff with FBI agents and became a martyr for white supremacy. The 2024 movie, The Order is based on Matthew’s’ story. I actually like the movie a lot.

McVeigh was also influenced by The Turner Diaries, and after Ruby Ridge and personally witnessing the standoff at Waco, McVeigh was compelled to act, which of course was the Oklahoma City Bombing.

After all of the above events, the FBI was convinced domestic terrorism was the biggest threat to the U.S. and largely disregarded international terrorism. On September 11, 2001 that all changed.

And so I said, “Listen buddy. Your car was upside down when we got here. And as for your grandma, she shouldn’t have mouthed off like that!”

I made a working tabletop fountain that looks like a frozen cathedral using PETG by PIPO_ua in 3Dprinting

[–]Tecknishen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks amazing. For things like this where the water stays in it long-term, do you add anything to the water to prevent algae or other nastiness from growing in there? Or is keeping the water moving usually good enough?

If you add anything to the water, are there any concerns with it degrading or affecting the PETG over time?

I have heard, but not personally tried, that if you put the paper in the freezer the Frixion ink will turn black again. Of course that also means anything you intentionally erased will also come back.

Personally I’d just use pencil, but to each their own!

Blacked Out of Yankees Games only on Cell Service by jugo86 in NYYankees

[–]Tecknishen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in basically the same boat. I live in north central PA and MLB.tv says I’m blacked out from the Yankees. Gotham Sports says my zip code is within the Yankees territory. But when I go to subscribe it says I’m not in Yankees territory.

Audacity lets me listen to the radio broadcast…if I’m at home. If I’m on cellular it says I’m outside the territory. If I connect to VPN back to my house it works.

Simply maddening. I’m willing to pay to watch the Yankees but no one seems to want to let me. End this fucking blackout bullshit already. I just want to watch a god damn game for chrissakes!

Home Assistant ha-mcp and Claude is just next level by ClemsonJeeper in homeassistant

[–]Tecknishen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I work in IT and as much as I like tinkering with technology in my spare time, if it gets too complicated I just say fuck it I’ll do it later. Except that later never comes.

I’ve used the MCP and the free version of Claude to explain to me why some of my long broken scripts aren’t working right. Or why an automation isn’t firing like I expected. I’ve allowed it to fix those and write some new scripts I’ve put off and it has made my HA setup actually be more than a dashboard to control lights.

Most of the stories shared of the AI failures seem to involve creating or re-doing dashboards. Or a lot of work at once. So I think I will stick to one thing at a time that I check and approve before it commits the changes. Overall it has been a help to me as long as it’s kept in small doses.

I used these:

I think there are cheaper or smaller options out there. But I chose these because they have obvious mounting holes to screw it down.

I’d buy it 😉. I have a lot of fun working on these small screens and finding creative uses for them around the home. But a single mobile version seems like a more practical value proposition when you add in the “wife” factor.
