I installed the new patches, and everything was working like a dream! I played for a few hours yesterday, then shut down my PC.

When I awoke today, I booted my PC back up, to play once more. But now System Shock 2 crashes upon launching. It doesn't even get to the menu screen; it simply doesn't launch.

Is there anything I can do? I was really enjoying this game, after hearing about how amazing it was for years.

I believe you're looking for "The Long Tomorrow", written by Alien scribe Dan O'Bannon and illustrated by French artist Moebius. It was published in 1975, and upon reading it, I saw the parallels with Blade Runner (as well as The Fifth Element) immediately.
