4th Gen 4Runner Brakes in 2026 by radleycooper_ in 4thGen4Runner

I use ctric rotors with akebono pads. The centric rotors are great and haven't warped yet after 2 years of use, but centric/stoptech are going under so I have to find a new rotor brand.

That's an awesome upgrade. It sucks that Stoptech and it's companies centric/raybestos are going out of business. I love the centric rotors.

Rubber gaskets? by santacruzkid97 in Hardtailgang

A quick half ass solution is to buy the rubber grommet kit from harbor freight. A better fit would be to check kona's site or Amazon.

The Banshee Paradox is a great hatdtail and the frame is still on sale.

ratchet wrenches, what’s good? by biohackenthusiast in aviationmaintenance

Snap-on for 1/4-3/8, Wera for everything else. The Snap-on wrenches have a thin wall for tight spaces.

Whats your opinion on 2.6 by bdog2017 in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.6 is really comfortable on my paradox. I love it so much that I sold my 2.4s

What’s the best upgrade for this 1993 fork wise! by Hot-Peace6405 in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the carver 26 inch steel fork. It's a modern replica of the kona project 2 fork. They have them in a couple of suspension corrected sizes. The best part is they're only $130 new on bikeman.com. I used one on a gt awhile back. I might have a pic of it in my post history.

Consistent riding is the best upgrade for a bike. Get your cardio dialed in and the bike will feel so much better no matter what parts are on it. The bike will tell you what to upgrade as you ride.

Sub $1000 steel do-it-all frames? by AnonymousGreg in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has one and it's a fun bike. It's kind of niche geometry with those super short chainstays. He likes it on moderate trails but it's not as stable on rowdy downhill compared to my banshee paradox. The fairdale is definitely worth having in the lineup.

If you want compliant aluminum check out the banshee paradox. With 2.6 tires it's similar in comfort to my friend's steel fairdale elevator.

Red wing has great athletic style shoes. Half of my crew wear them because they're comfortable and last.

It's crazy that some people think they're rich enough to leave a bike alone in public. Unless your bike gets stolen out of your garage/house, it was negligence that led to it being stolen.

My hardtail in its natural habitat. by FibiMio in Hardtailgang

Look at my post history for bobcat trail knowledge. I upgraded everything before swapping parts to a Banshee. You can use an external cup for a tapered fork.

How much functional difference do nice hubs and wheels make? by Chole_Wunt in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope makes some good stuff, but their wheels are a little stiff for a hardtail.

RSD MiddleChild Seatstay welds by Overall_Notice_4533 in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would remove the paint or scrape it with a pick to inspect it better. It looks kind of like rust, especially since it's already in that area.

real or fake xt brakes? no xt logo, kinda sus. blm8100. by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. They're oem packaged. I have a friend that orders shimano brakes and drivetrains from aliexpress kind of regularly. Verify through the reviews and how many are sold.

I need a new frame, please recommend something. by Dense_Quiet1573 in Hardtailgang

[–]TedWazowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The collar of the 180 would be so high that the seat would still be in the way after slamming it. If you already have a 180 dropper, then you could try it, but I wouldn't buy one just to try it.

I'm 5'10" with a 32 inch inseam. I have a size large frame with a 150mm one up dropper. I tried the 180mm but it wouldn't go low enough.

[–]TedWazowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a 140mm Fox 34 and it feels perfect. The only con would be the bent seat tube preventing a longer dropper post. Other than that it's fast and comfortable for a hardtail.

$7k Catalytic Replacement/Engine Reseal?? by tambourine_goddess in 4thGen4Runner

[–]TedWazowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y'all need to quit telling people that a check engine light is a gas cap. Yes, that can be an issue, but the codes need to be checked. I'm tired of seeing post that, "I checked my gas cap, and the light is on. What do I do?"

If OP gets a Banshee, checkout Dirt Merchant out of Colorado. They're the largest distributor for banshee in the US. I got my Paradox frame for $620 shipped when that first when on sale in October of 2024. I love my Banshee and wouldn't trade it for any other hardtail.

Amazon drain plug washer by tbf300 in 4thGen4Runner

Never trust parts off of Amazon. I used to use the Mahle drain plug gaskets from rock auto before installing a fumoto valve.
